    blowers

Employers have a legal duty to the health and safety of employees. Remember the compensation claims of the miners for white finger? Well large employers don't want arborists turning around in years to come and suing for compensation, The kit we use at work is labeled with the amount of time it can be used daily, We also log our hrs on Vibration sheets as well as having medicals annually. It may seem stupid but the company can are covering their backs from compensation claims also its worth bearing in mind the damage vibrating tools can do to your body. I know one forester who is unable to work hos white finger is so bad. Infact last I heard the poor so and so was struggling to hold a mug of tea!

There will allways be the dodgy saws from both manufacturers loads of people on here rate the 357xpg highly yet mine has been back to the dealer a zillion times! If a saws faulty I just keep throwing them back at the dealer shouting louder each time!
  6. Thats very true and be carefull filling in the paperwork, mistakes can be costly! There are 5 tree firms round here I know of with licences. If your being approached by the EA do things properly and supply them with evidence to fight your corner. Its all down to interpretation this is just another thread going down the same line as the last one on the subject.
  7. My 372 is running an 18" bar it had a 24 on it but since work seem incapable of having my 357 repaired to acceptable standards I'm using the 372 all day:151:
  8. I see what your saying but the HSE just bundle industries together to make life easy for them. I.e there are lots of cross overs between ag and arb so it makes sense to use the same investigators/advisors for the two industries. If you were approached by a EA Enforcement officer and all your Arb work was carried out for domestoc customers. I really can't imagine the Ea's EO will go along with the agricultural waste thing. If however you soend all day every day working in the local farmers woodland you have a valid point. But just because the HSE put Arb under agriculture I doubt it would stand up, The EA will want to know where waste originated from.
  9. i can't find a copy at the moment, but there is a firm advertises in Tractor & Machinery magazine, that are supposed to be very good. Edited to add: Nip into WH Smiths and have a flick through EarthMovers magazine there was a firm in there advertising alli loading ramps specifically for mini excavators/7.5 ton wagons. Our office has been invaded by decorators I can't find a thing! lol
  10. thats the way to do it!
  11. Yep but they are the lesser of two evils! without my specs I'd most probably cut my foot off.
  12. Yep I'm unfortunate enough to be a perscription glasses wearer, My specs steam up all the time, My employer tried to make me wear safety goggles over my specs and under my visor. i told him to expect me to loose a limb in the first hour! When I'm working for myself I employ a female groundie, She is much more conciencious then any of the local lads. She's been off on maternity leave for 6 months and will probably be off for another 6, I have really noticed just how high a standard her work is no she isn't around! She wears bib and brace chainsaw trousers but she doesn't climb. Our local dealer had some women specific trousers in stock a while ago think they were made by SIP
  13. Er thats not what said! And as I said to you earlier we don't all do the same type of work. , we work in rivers all day everyday, most of the time we wear gloves even so, we always wash hands before moving/driving vehicles or use hand wipes. There are an awful lot of nasty things you can catch from river water.
  14. very nice crane sir, I really like remote control.
  15. Well no one drives my vehicles with dirty hands! both have hand washing facilities with hot running water!
  16. Sorry to hear that Bob, There has been a real spate of thefts of Ifor Williams trailers around here, talking to the police recently they told us, wheel clamps, hitch boxes and chains may slow them down but will never stop anything being nicked!

Yes definatly do! you paid a lot of money for that saw and you shouldn't be having trouble let the dealer earn its keep!

    Bad Day

Where are you in the country?
  20. you may have a point with your wife and kids and your work vehicle but I shall not comment as I don;t know what kind of work you do. I work out of two vehicles and they are both kept clean and tidy - I can't stand messy vehicles I clean mine once a week. everyone I know is happy to accept a lift in a prehistoric Land Rover. But I accept that up here in middle England we all must have some very odd ideas as there are numouros lads running tree companys that have a crew cab to carry their climbing kit to and from work and then the family at other times.
  21. Oh my god! this is going to open a can of worms! I've used quite a few and there are two I'd consider if I ever bought one, Jenson, we've used tracked and towed ones they seem very well made and work very well. Build quality seems very good. Timberwolf, well only used the 150 both in tracked and road tow, They seem good machines but I think they need replacing regularly, we've been using one with 1000 hrs on this week and it seems tired, with bits loose and worn. Having said all that a mate has been using an Arbor eater for the past 2 weeks and he's singing its praises, though I think they need to run it a bit longer to get an accurate verdict
  22. Er I don't think many of the people in this thread have skanky old work trucks! Have you ever thought some people might not want a car as well?! Thats the whole point of these new crewcab type navara/hilux/l200 things.
  23. What?!!!! the Navara looks like some one has droped a pallet on it! Its not tall enough looks way of proportion.
  24. Yep local government.
