  1. Dont bother, you have enough already. On a similar note, are there any carabiners you dont already own?
  2. I think the probem with a crew cab is that most of the weight in the tipper would be behind the rear wheels, whereas with a single cab its distributed a bit more evenly. King cabs are a little better in that respect. You wont get much in a crewcab tipper surely?
  3. Dont know, not too sure what size my airstreams are actually. They are a little bit too big really, but the next size down cramps my toes. The Zermatts on the other hand fit almost perfectly, but I have trouble finding boots that fit me really well anyway so perhaps thats not such a good recommendation.
  4. There were some at the AA Trade fair last year, navara kingcab tippers. The chassis really didnt look up to the job though. Ok for occasional use I suppose.
  5. Biggest drawbar combo with an 18 tonner is a 20 tonne trailer, but only if the towing vehicle is capable. Your best bet would be an existing drawbar rig, and then build the timber body on it. Rearmount crane obviously. Wont be a cheap rig to put together though, why not go for a 32 tonne rigid, that should carry 19-20 tonnes on its own.
  6. Light etch on gate. Anywhere else will result in a LOLER examination fail.
  7. I have a large chalkbag with the furry lining removed, it holds at least 10 metres of 10mm.
  8. It does mould to your feet David. They really would benefit from waxing I feel.
  9. Well, this is how mine look after 3 months of standing in muddy puddles.
  10. Yes. I do think they will require maintenance to stay that way though, no Goretex liner lasts forever.
  11. Iv had mine a few months now, very comfy once they broke my feet in. Good with spikes, lots of support, excellent for walking on rough terrain. Not so good for footlocking or delicate climbing work, and I cant see them lasting as long as the original Klima Airs either. I will keep them for cold weather, snow and rainy winter days, and takedowns, and buy another pair of Meindl Airstreams for summer wear. They are going to be available in a hetersexual colour, but I dont know when.
  12. Very good book, explains some quite complicated things in an easy to understand way.
  13. It is harder to get credit and credit accounts as a Ltd company, especially in the first few years of trading. I persuaded my bank to give my ltd co an overdraft facility, never used it but it helps to build credit history. For most other credit facilities I have been asked for either a director's guarantee or a bond paid in adance.
  14. Are those the pink flowered chestnuts Josh?
  15. You can pretension/ lift with a Hobbs.
  16. Actually, I agree with you. Crane is just one option I like to keep open, buts its one of my favourite type of jobs.
  17. Crane for me. Fast and labour saving.
  18. I dont agree with you there, buy a right and a left and use them alternate days, and learn to use them properly. Much better than footlocking.
  19. I have climbed on shorties for the last ten years, quite happy until I did a wellingtonia this year, then I needed long ones for the first time. They are also great for ivy covered trees. Still got the long gaffs, but I have put the shorties back on for everyday use. Might get another set of spikes so I can have a pair of each ready set up because swapping them is a pain.
  20. That is incorrect and misleading. There is no requirement under any UK law to have any NPTC units to use a chainsaw professionally.
  21. Fascinating, he really is in a different league.
  22. What do you think of the cocoon on the rope guide then? Apologies for the derail btw
  23. When I saw the title of the thread I thought you were going to mill the leylandii stems into the new fence posts. Now that would be sweet!
  24. What more do you need to know? Long hair, clearly guilty of all charges.
  25. So essentially you're saying you've posted a pic of the tree, that hasnt actually got the tree in question in it? Looks like a nice job though. crane
