  1. Just thinking of popping off to work, and its teeming down. Work can wait an hour or two
  2. I finally crumbled and sent off the old paper licence for an updated photocard. I dont have a passport and therefore no legal ID that is acceptable. Its becoming a ballache to sort out finances, move money acrross accounts, re invest money without photo ID.i find it ridiculous that I cant even move and use my own money without it, and am treated like a criminal because I cant "prove" my ID, even though I have birth and marriage certificates (death cert not issued yet:001_rolleyes:) paper DL, tax papers, utility bills all to prove I exist legitimately.
  3. Dry here now, heavy showers earlier on. Sunny and bright, shame im on a rest day typical.
  4. I think over the years weve commented on this topic several times. An employer is rarely going to do the running, you want a job, you chase it up. Well said Rob
  5. Mine is the smallest model pedestrian cutter bar mower, driven by a Honda engine reciprocating cuttef. It isnt a flail type.
  6. Edwood, I commend your attitude. i saw you at the AA Show in the distance, you stood out for the right reasons. You advertised yourself, at the very place where there was maximum exposure to potential employers. Thats called initiative. Thats something you cant train into people, but something we all like to see. When i was banging on about people shooting a video CV to capitalise on this forum, this was the kind of thing I was trying to encourage. You stood out in a crowd of perhaps a thousand people in the course of two days at a trade show....well done and best of luck
  7. I have a BCS cutter, brilliant bit of kit. Cant think of any tips other than keep it cleaned and greased up.
  8. Perhaps we could have a nice quiet game of Snap then
  9. Dry day here, between the showers
  10. Come to Suffolk, the streets are paved with gold. Everyone Ive spoken to has too much work, people looking for staff cant find them as theyre all busy
  11. Same as the little Oschenkopf from Clarks. i really wouldnt want that skidding off into my leg, ir anywhere else!!
  12. Ah, I see the contract mowing is not what i was imagining. I was visualising you cutting an acre in an hour for that rate....couldnt see how it made any money. Clearer now
  13. Unfortunately, due to the tough economic climate, it may be necessary to reduce staffing numbers in the next quarter if losses keep up at this rate. Accountability and profitability, if theyre costing you money....
  14. Hmmmm heavy rain forecast for most of the day....what to do? What to do?
  15. Dry day here, nearly binned the day when I saw the forecast....and they got it wrong!!!
  16. Top tip #342... The mistake youre making is to try and understand your woman. Dont. They are not of this world, they are an alien species that does not possess the process of rational thought. Unlike us. Retire to a safe place...stay there...do not communicate, befriend or even try to negotiate while they are in this mood. Crack open a tinny, and chill. They will come around...eventually. Trust me.
  17. Hi TL, which sappie are you using? I have a Oschenkopf from Clarks and its far better than the Oregon one. The weight of the Clarks model makes it so much easier and the flat head is handy to tap in a wedge.
  18. My local TO is very proactive, communication is key with him, so such a bullish approach would be detrimental to future applications, and notifications, and would serve absolutely no purpose other than make my life harder, which is pointless. Id guess we're very lucky in this area to have a good TO though!
  19. i go out with a topper for £35 per hour, never for an acreage rate, and certainly wouldnt do it for £8.50 an acre, how on earth can that pay??? Ive had most clients say £35 an hour is reasonable and happily pay it, might try for £40 now though! i had one contractor moaning at me that he only get £22.50 per hour and his kit cost thousands more.... I think you have to be realistic and charge enough, I also charge travel one way on most jobs, but thats distance dependent, somtimes I dont charge at all, and sometimes I charge both ways, I make it up as I go along really, it depends on many factors.
  20. Until English teams learn to play with such skill, flair and style, they will never be in the same league as Spain or Italy. Good final and a good result for Spain, though Id liked to have seen Italy put at least one in the net for their efforts.
  21. A while back, I asked you what you had that would make you stand out above people in the job, that set of pictures is the best CV youll ever get. good job.
  22. Might as well tow a wee chipper about
  23. Use a metal detector?
  24. Had to strip quad carb and rebuild as the throttle needle snapped yesterday. New needle £40, new diaphragm £70. I actually stood and watched my Honda trained son do this in minutes, it would have taken me hours to faff about, swear, throw tantrum, lose parts, buy new parts etc
  25. Nicely said, I can think of some who should read this and take note.
