  1. Sunburn....pah!!! I thought that was the stuff of myths and legends, a bit like the Holy Grail and Dragons and stuff.
  2. Thought this was a cunning plan to cover your county so you could work in the wet!
  3. They dont call it the Sunrise coast for nothing!! Probably the driest county around (most of the time). And the women are all beautiful and the streets are paved with gold, what more can you ask for?
  4. Lets just kick back and savour these fleeting moments of "Summer" 2012.
  5. These clips prove DaRwins Theory of Evolution was totally wrong
  6. A major weather event is taking place right here right now over Suffolk. The elusive yellow orb has been spotted at long last. People are throwing caution to the wind, leaving their houses in t shirts and shorts, not a waterproof in sight! What has caused this totally unseasonal phenomenon? Some may blame global warming, others the jet stream, but who cares...its sunny
  7. Strange, didnt even notice the difference, a friend of my lads was killed at a busy junction around 4.30 and the calls kept coming in ok??? Strange.
  8. Indeed there wasnt a vacancy the other day when I tried.
  9. Aint that hiw its done then?
  10. Bloody hell! Sorry to hear this Justin, not good
  11. I charge £250 for me and the wee Jo Beau!!!!! For a tractor and 12" chipper arond here, id say £450 shoukd be the minimum. Time and again I hear the argument from others that they cant get x amount for their far more expensive machinery, ie big JCBs or tractors with big kit... To them I say you could if you tried. And to compare with agri rates for kit...well there is no comparison. I have hired a telehandler and driver for the day in the past for less £££s than 1 climber!! I think living in a rural area, with many farms with big kit on them helps keep the cost down, and they are grateful when they are slack to earn something for their workers to do something.
  12. Use your phone like a door, if you dont want to let someone in dont respond to them. This advice was given to me by Trading Standards.
  13. Nice one Justin, another hassle free day then:thumbup:
  14. Good to see people and companies at all levels achieving
  15. Yes thats Davids kit, nice isnt it i worked with him when he had the old Super Major with Hydratongs!! Oh how times change
  16. I was probably at my peak around 32-45, younger than that i was either too pig headed, not physically fit enough or whatever. 46 I was past it. 47.... Clawing my way back up, inwardly knowing that its a case of fighting a losing battle against time now, but hey.....one last shot at it before slipping into old age
  17. Ive tried to read back though this thread with a totally open mind, looking for these "bullying" posts. What I have found is strong self opinionated responses to the thread. I think by our very nature, this is why many of us have built our own success, at whatever level, and this comes across in the postings. Although sometimes some of these strong posters may seem intimidating, they also contribute much in a very open, selfless manner, when someone really needs their help they are there. Anyway, if I do feel bullying does take place, those will be dealt with in accordance with forum rules.
  18. Good to see you back there Predator looking at your pics it reminded me of myself a little while ago, I looked in the mirror and thought Id aged 20 years. It all comes good in the end
  19. Just reading back through this thread., and in particular my own post re: my health at that time. We all get down at times about a situation, be it health, work or lack of it or even too much to cope with at times. Things break when we can least afford it, bills pile up and snotty letters start to arrive, oh the deep joy. But all these things can be sorted and over come. Oh yes, it takes hard work, both mentally and physically, when youre quiet you will have to work harder than ever, networking, posting flyers, or even stacking shelves if thats whats needed. The last 8 months have been a personal kind of hell for me, falling ill, falling iller, under going serious life saving and life changing surgery, at the same time trying not to lose a lifetimes worth of clients. For the most part, I have succeeded, I survived the ops, I survived the meds, I climbed back off my ass asap and got walking around, then cycling around seeing clients, keeping them in the picture. Those I couldnt visit, I called in person. I can now work about 3 days a week, at a push. Some days it totally exhausts me, more than I could imagine. But its worth it. If anyone really wants something to happen, it will happen, but you have to make it, dont wait for it to come to you.
  20. Some friends of mine use gymnastic rings, they have really benefitted from them, phenomenal improvements
  21. Does it really matter that much how you started out, whether you were given a helping hand, given yardage in your daddys farm, or a hand out from Great Grand mama? There always seems to be resentment that somebody else is getting something youre not. So what? If its a wise investment, you certainly wouldnt pour money into tree work, but something that actually makes a profit occasionally. What is so unnatural about a father wishing to help his son, thats a purely natural progression, survival of the species, or your genes being helped along to succeed. I had a warehouse job for many years when my kids were young, enough to live on, but nothing left over to save for the future. i got made redundant, and the government gave us our retraining, and support to get going. Some frittered this opportunity away, I took full advantage of it. Is that wrong? I am no burden on the state, I can hold my head up and be proud of myself, and have been in the position to help my kids on their way. Thats nothing to be ashamed of. Each to their own, live life your own way, just dont tread on others in your ambitions.
  22. Well this is exciting....yet another show looming up, more beers:001_rolleyes:..more late nights:001_rolleyes: more Dad dancing from Mr Bolam:thrasher: and some more hoolies hussin axes about...its gonna be one big Arb party. Now all we need is just a little more enthusiasm from people, lets make this the best show is year, and if it rains, well we aint Northerners, we dont let a little precipitation stop us:thumbup:
  23. Found a nice little B&B just down the road from Ragley Hall, everywhere is booked (as someone did forecast accurately) but I just dont care coz Im sorted
  24. What a shame for the organisers and attendees. These events take months of planning and sorting, and quite some expenditure. Could some of the event not be integrated at FR Jones Show?
