  1. Ladybirds give a tidy nip, love to hide up in hedges, and hate people trying to kill them. Ladybird larvae also nip well, red and black with legs, voracious little beggars too.
  2. Yeah, like you wouldnt even believe mate! And Im now pulling everything back together myself, probably the biggest challenge of my life. But even when my crap hit the fan, i made sure people who needed to know were kept in the picture. This has paid dividends. But then I dont quit.
  3. I think this is one to put down to experience. You wouldnt have travelled, fair comment, but you would still have to eat. Accomodation is no longer cheap, £100 a week? How about the employers point of view, you wanted a job, which he had, you used his accomodation for a week so he couldnt charge anyone else for that if he so wished. You say you wanted the job, but you left it, and let him down with no real notice. IMO you have inconvenienced them more than they inconvenienced you. They now have to try and find a replacement to do their work at short notice. I think in this situation youre lucky to get £25 cash.
  4. Hows about we have a nice little discussion on the topic "using both ends of the rope" and if anyone wishes to finish their education in the English language they can go find a different forum to abuse each other.
  5. Ive seen one or two climbers in my time, some have switched to newer techniques, others have stuck with how they were trained many moons ago. One thing though, each and every climber is good safe and competent in their abilities. I dont like to see a long loop trailing down, I do think it is a hazard, but with good rope management this is easily avoidable.
  6. There definitely seems to be a lack of preparedness for many of the students, as to whats expected in the "real world". I think some tutors/teachers lack any motivational skills, that gives the student the drive to get going in life. Of course, this applies to students too. When they turn up in college for a course, it doesnt matter if their boot laces arent tied, no one makes them mind so this follows on to the work place. I hate to see it, unready to do a days work. With everyone having to think for them, its no wonder they dont know which course theyve just completed. I know there are exceptions to this, they are the ones to employ, the dross can go and apply at G4S
  7. Will his insurance cover them as the vehichle was locked? still a nuisance to you though hope you slapped idiot workmate for his stupidity!
  8. Yeah they were next to us at the AA Show, even got a card off them, but they didnt answer the phone yesterday, probably busy. Emailed them now anyway, so shoudl hear today.
  9. Thats right, slightly rounded take a 17mm socket, or whatever stupid size the local village idiots gunned it up with hence the beginning of the problem. Actually havent managed to get out the most damaged bolt yet, looks like a rats chewed on it. Pillocks.
  10. I was trying to call them earlier but the phone didnt get answered.then it was too late, was trying to save myself time tomorrow if I could get an idea off here, then I could just email the order through.
  11. Tops of most of the bolts are well scuffed, hard to make out any letters/numbers, as for tensile strength havent got a clue there.
  12. Trying to order the correct size bolts for my m300, absolutely shedloads of bolts described by measurements only, what do I need? .com
  13. The manufacturers are the difference, and the finish of the metalwork.
  14. Nice one everyone involved, excellent effort for such a good cause
  15. If im honest, I really couldnt choose between the two, weight, balance, everything is similar. Its probably down to whether you like the gay polished finish of the Oshenkopf (sp) or the rugged good looks of the Gransfors. Both are very well made, and with practise you can even hit the woodwork sometimes.
  16. I love it superb
  17. Honestly Justin, at most of the shows since we started this little event, at least one person has enquired as to where to get them. forest & arb wished theyd taken them to the AA Show, as I think I had 5 queries on one day. I could have probably sold 2 straight off at your show. Thing is, they tend to be an impulse buy, once people leave the shows I dont think theyd be so keen. Of course, if we start a comp then maybe greater interest, who knows?
  18. The woodsmiths store sell Gransfors, as do ProAdventure (thru Amazon)
  19. Need a new model Steve, that chap is a little portly around the middle
  20. BAAPS - Plastic Surgeons  who ever thought that one up obviously had a sense of humour, no wonder the "real" surgeons dont take them seriously:biggrin:
  21. Ill be surprised if they dare go on the fields here for a while, the last thing that went on had to be towed out, and that was before the latest levels of rainfall, so it would probably be silly for them to try.
  22. Not the most original excuse of the day Rich, but it'll do. Must have heard every one in the book now
  23. Is that what some were doing wrong, mistakenly believing that it was a "will this axe re enter the atmosphere if I launch it as high as possible?" competition
  24. nor have I Rob....nor have I. I am going to set a target up here asap in a meadow, i need the training!
  25. Hmmm lets see SE region, you me Steve, Rich Rule Mark Bolam.....oh yes a winning team in the making. . Unless the Northern pair wish to set up their own Northern Refugees Club:lol: Anyway, back on track, i think next year should just run on the basics to see how it works out, if all is good we can always build on it year on year.
