  1. 2 questions- what pads do you have & are they adjusted properly?
  2. The ergonomics on the stihl are far superior imo, but the engine on the 395 has that extra grunt & will pull that extra long bar a little better. Either which way you will end up with a great saw.
  3. Some,of my hardest days have been climbing, but day in and day out cutting is much harder physically- especially if your cutting on a piece rate.
  4. He fits the model of employee perfectly in my opinion & should have been so from day one. The big big issue for me is the fact that he, has been paid as a self employed individual. So if any payment in tax & national insurance (apart from employers contributions) are to be made to the treasury then it should be from his own pocket as he has been compensated for this already. His rate also reflected the absence of holiday & sick pay. The guy is a chancer & no doubt enjoyed the wages he received until things went sour.
  5. I have a block function on my phone- simples ?
  6. You can't fix stupid !

    hello!

Nice to read you again Drew ?
  8. Unfortunately, in the case of major trauma in a tree, that is time critical, you are on your own in the real world. If you cannot descend immediately then chances are your fecked!! I am more conscious of first aid qualification & management as that is where lives can be saved.
  9. Like some others, I cannot function with a silky on my leg - the ergonomics are poor for me. One thing I have noticed is how little I use one when pruning since, my purchase of a ms150
  10. Why would you put a single pulley that far above a defective union & try and rig a big top off it without letting it run? Stupid can have unfortunately serious consequences
  11. Smooth Reg. Make you miss Manchester any ?
  12. I think so - I have zero contact
  13. All my saws are ported apart from an old 084. Why would you not improve performance?
  14. His actions demonstrate lack of vision - probably due to lack of experience & exposure to rigging bigger pieces. The learning curve with rigging can be steep indeed.
  15. Arb for training are a good setup - https://www.arbfortraining.com/arb-for-training-contact
  16. My insurance rate is dependent on turnover. I would just phone an insurance provider and get a quote to see if it is viable for you.
  17. There are a lot & in the whole are a good bunch. I moved away a few years ago so I will let some of the locals chime in. Good luck !
  18. Sometimes morning, sometimes evening, but always sharp & sorted when I leave the yard. I loose money messing about with saws on-site & they are never sharpened or maintained as well either.
  19. 254 - the first one made me some serious money cutting piece rare. Would have liked to have a spud tuned one in those days
  20. I like the skylotec - I spend a lot of time on spikes dismantling & I like the extra support that the backpad gives me. However, the treemotion gives a much greater freedom and range of movement. It is very hard to recommend as harness choice is so personal. There is no substitute for trying before you buy unfortunately.
  21. Could you have chosen any 3 harnesses that were more different- you need to decide what your needs are prior to looking
  22. Many machines use remotes- how about a company that deals with hiabs?
  23. The old Nissan Patrol TD is a good tow truck, especially the auto box. They can be a bit thirsty, but your not buying for economy.
  24. I really love my arb trolley, especially when working on my own - absolute game changer.
