  1. Looks very ungainly & too long for stem work. You have to question there market research on the product. In my mind the evolution is towards more compact devices to supersede the rope wrench.
  2. Good job. I really like the "headache rack"
  3. I understand your theory, but the reality could be a potential nightmare if used inappropriately. There are very few trees suited to working in there entirety with a basal anchor. Although it does give a positive opportunity for rescue, it also carries inherent risks, especially when rigging operations are involved. I really think we have to examine our own actions in to avoid accidents & also look at how to get ourselves out of trouble as opposed to relying on others.
  4. Sadly, having a qualified climber onsite guarantees nothing other than insurance. There is a huge number of groundies who did there tickets & probably have not even put a harness on for 12 months, yet legally they are competent. It's a load of BS - you would bleed out whilst they remember which way round there spikes go on. This is the way of modern business- as long as the boxes are ticked nobody cares about anything other than profit. There are always exceptions to this, but not enough.
  5. Mirfield cricket club ?
  6. Jotul make some great stoves. Burley get my vote for number 1 - the are (or were) the most efficient one on the market 90% ish with good wood
  7. They look awesome- nice job
  8. I have always wanted one - since my teens. Seriously envious
  9. Not spikes that people usually have an issue with, especially on the shins. I can only suggest that you try & put some extra padding at the point it is rubbing, even a pad made from a cut up tshirt might help. Can't be much help, sorry and I hope you have a better day tomorrow
  10. 2 questions- what pads do you have & are they adjusted properly?
  11. The ergonomics on the stihl are far superior imo, but the engine on the 395 has that extra grunt & will pull that extra long bar a little better. Either which way you will end up with a great saw.
  12. Some,of my hardest days have been climbing, but day in and day out cutting is much harder physically- especially if your cutting on a piece rate.
  13. He fits the model of employee perfectly in my opinion & should have been so from day one. The big big issue for me is the fact that he, has been paid as a self employed individual. So if any payment in tax & national insurance (apart from employers contributions) are to be made to the treasury then it should be from his own pocket as he has been compensated for this already. His rate also reflected the absence of holiday & sick pay. The guy is a chancer & no doubt enjoyed the wages he received until things went sour.
  14. I have a block function on my phone- simples ?
  15. You can't fix stupid !

    hello!

Nice to read you again Drew ?
  17. Unfortunately, in the case of major trauma in a tree, that is time critical, you are on your own in the real world. If you cannot descend immediately then chances are your fecked!! I am more conscious of first aid qualification & management as that is where lives can be saved.
  18. Like some others, I cannot function with a silky on my leg - the ergonomics are poor for me. One thing I have noticed is how little I use one when pruning since, my purchase of a ms150
  19. Why would you put a single pulley that far above a defective union & try and rig a big top off it without letting it run? Stupid can have unfortunately serious consequences
  20. Smooth Reg. Make you miss Manchester any ?
  21. I think so - I have zero contact
  22. All my saws are ported apart from an old 084. Why would you not improve performance?
  23. His actions demonstrate lack of vision - probably due to lack of experience & exposure to rigging bigger pieces. The learning curve with rigging can be steep indeed.
  24. Arb for training are a good setup - https://www.arbfortraining.com/arb-for-training-contact
