That's one answer certainly. Another would be to get some of our own bloated benefit bums off their arses.

I'd argue that we don't even need 1.5m new houses though. Apparently we already have 1m vacant properties. We could just renovate and reuse those. Far more eco friendly than building from scratch and probably far better quality than crappy new builds as well.

You were right, it is this thread. Well, almost. It is about 50% anti immigration, 20% anti Starmer, 15% anti net-zero and 10% LinkedIn screen shots and 5% anything other forum members have the audacity to consider newsworthy or interesting.

42 when you have the current Border Security Minister Dame Angela Eagle admitting they have no idea how many undocumented illegal immigrants there are in the country or when they will ever be able to slow down the number of illegal crossings etc, You know you have a huge problem.
I see you ignore the article on costs and the related figures in regards number of taxpayers to cover it etc. Mine is due as are millions of others by end of Jan 25, I’ll pay mine as I always do, mind you it’s not even enough to cover the costs of a single illegal immigrant crossing the channel.
Yet you seem to see no issue with any of this insanity. Maybe take a look at the reality of the numbers  for the legal stuff you often quote too

You do realise the whole debacle over hotel expenses only arose because the Tories refused to process claims on the grounds it would be a pull factor for future migration? A political choice at odds with the country's best interests.

Now the new lot are trying to get to grips with things you seem intent on blaming them for the inherited mess.

Using boats as a metaphor, the bigger they are the longer it takes to turn them around... What is it they say about patience?

You do realise I had the same issues and concerns witch the previous piss poor government and its approach to this issue , sadly the only deterrent they had that actually discouraged people was constantly opposed at every opportunity by the current piss poor government.
Unlike a good few on here I’m not blinded by my political preferences.

I was trying not to get into the immigration debate again, it's been done to death on here, and it's going nowhere. If you really want to talk about immigration you should think about the point raised previously. You do realise that a lot of the issues we currently have stem from the former administration, and their general dishonesy and incompetence? At least the new lot are trying to resolve some of it by tackling it at source.

I was more interested in the housing issue. Why do Labour feel the need to build a load of crappy new houses rather than reusing what we already have?

You do realise that there's a long list of insanity and reasons why we're ****************ed? For me, immigration is low down on that list. It's a subjective subject though obviously.

Just wondering who you voted for, you have a string dislike for the SNP and Labour, Farage wasn't really on the scene before UKIP.... so during the last Labour government who did you vote for? Perhaps a time to accept some responsibility the Conservatives being in power, and their many failings.... (Rhetorical question, I don't need to know the answer, but perhaps a time to reflect on past decisions?). Perhaps a time to man up and say your vote there didn't produce the results you were happy with?

Yeah but the other news topics, the interesting ones that perhaps we missed, he snippets at the end of a news report or feed, soon get shot down and we go back on topic again so no need to worry about that. Stick to the 4 main topics and we'll be grand.

Be a real shame if there were some fresh and interesting news stories to talk about.

on the wind up while lunch cooks....

Looks like Labour are doing stuff:

UK.YAHOO.COM

More migrants have been removed from the UK since Labour was elected than in any other six-month period over the past five years, the government has claimed. The Home Office...
