Norway has has some form of National Service since the 1940s,they realised that punnishing people into it dosnt work.So although most kids get called up at 18 years old,only the kids motivated to see it though are chosen.Bearing in mind that these boys and girls have to service part time untill they are 40 means its a very large commitment.Some people stay on untill much later but thats the exception.

 

Honestly I think the UK is so shagged socially that only a pandemic or world war is going to reboot it.
