Fings wot broke

Back in April 2016 I modified our tracked TW flywheel bearings to grease-able and to this day the bearings have not needed to be changed .

Its racked up some hours on those bearings so if anyone ever tells you its possible to over grease a bearing poke them in the eye with a stick.
Have got the chipper in bits atm to sort out the engine and anvil so popped off the shaft extension to see how its getting on .

This is the tow 190 with the same rotor @ 500 hours with shagged bearings, it will be getting the same treatment as above.

It's possible to overgrease a sealed bearing.

Does that qualify for the sharp stick?

Bolt holes on the lower feed roller bearing had slogged out.I made a triangular spacer from 10mm plate,welded 12 mm three studs to it ,then hot glued it onto the machine.

 

Welder was acting up so that's why there are so many passes.

Would Helicoils have negligated the need for welding, or was the shaft damaged where the bearing previously sat?

The holes were slogged out.re drilling and going up a size want an option as I had already taken them from 10 to 12mm in the past and I would have run out of steel on the bearing if I had taken them to 14mm.

Fitted a new grinding wheel to the bandit, the old one had elongated a few of its pocket thread holes making tightening the pockets an arse -the rocks here give the grinder a hard life. 
took the opportunity whilst the backing plate was off to fit the updated belt tensioner and beef up the backing plate mount too.

Well, bollocks to that!

Ah broke me C52KS JD 'built like a brick shithouse" mower.

The drive wheel fell off.

A shitty biro thick bolt is all that carries the wheel.

It simply sheared.

Prob due to "rocking" in my attempts to dislodge stuck grass from beneath the deck.

Won't do that again!

Just fitted a new rear spring and U bolts.I broke the spring last week.

 

I will do the other side when I can be arsed.

What a coincidence. I was just thinking about bolstering the springs on my van a few hours ago.
