Rich,that jacks the only 1 I have, its a monster 30 tonner!

Totally agree on the plate, on these trees the whole jack was getting pushed down , mainly because of my poor choice of placing it and trying to bore in, it was a nightmare.

A smaller jack with a ball and socket end with the plate on would be ideal, so the plate stays with the butt as it rises.

 

The guy who I sub to sometimes uses a 30 ton jack with a plate but it has a welded ring for the piston to sit in and also has a separate plate to use on the bottom to save the arse of the jack bowing out and sinking into soft/rotton wood
