What hp are you running on that bob as when I've mulched in the past I've always found however much you've got you could do with more! ]

 

90hp will run one John but 160hp ish is about right so the Massey with the pump juiced up does ok. Its more about technique and being patient than pure Hp because if you back a 350hp tractor/mulcher into a stump too fast it will stall just the same. You can cover one hell of a lot of ground in a day if you just take it steady.

 

The rides above and two others, the area below in the pictures and one more like it to the left were choked up with windbown trees, hawthorn, neglected coppice and scrub, they were cleared to open up the vista . All of the above work was achieved (which included mowing all the stumps off at ground level)in four days with no cutters or assistance, that represents value for money which is what most customers are after

 

 

 

Work just got a seppi second hand from the forestry commission. Any thing I should be looking out for when running it?

Good solid bits of kit, keep it greased/oiled and make sure the anvils at the back of the drum are maintained/replaced as they wear. 15,000 plus hours clocked up on the old one with a just a few casing repairs on the way, bearings ,drive box and hydraulics were all still the originals.

Some clearance with the mog and tractor

Though you got rid of the mog John, obviously not, where do you put all the tools in a mog? The chip boxes look so tiny compared to the vehicle itself. Nice set up though.

I got rid of my first one, this is my second. you can fit saws, climbing kits, rigging kit and other bits in the chipper with blower and rakes in the back of the mog but 95% of the time we take a second vehicle to kit in, rake up and any logs.

 

I reckon the mog will hold 6 cube of chip and im generally less than 3miles from one of my tip sites so tipping off isnt to much bother of if its a big job il chuck the grain trailer behind the tractor to chip into
