It's time to wake up - and switch to Aspen Fuel

I have thought for a while it was something I should be using, being as I am always trying to promote the low impact and "green" ethics of horse logging, I used the 2T for the first time today, ran perfectly in my saw and I am looking forward to using the 4T on the forwarder, as this is an area where I sometimes suffer, from fumes.

 

...and there was me thinking those horses ran on hay!

By PPE are you refering to the material we use to manufacture the five litre can? If so, we use High Density Poly Ethene..

Sorry the PPE was aimed to my fellow arbtalkers...when I use my saws Im always geared up for my own protection from the cutting end on the saw, to me its equally important whats coming out the other side.... Emissions that I inhale! I consider alkylate to be a part of my PPE! (personal protective equipment) I guess we are lucky here as we havs several brands, but in my experience Aspen is the better one! Torque, RPM etc...

This might be a daft question BUT once you start using Aspen can you still use "normal" 2 stroke aswell, Or is this not advised??

 

 

I do a fair bit of subby work so aswell as using my own fuel (possibly Aspen) id be using others fuels all the time, None of whom use Aspen.

I have mixed on the odd occasion when I run out, no problems apart from you may need to turn the tickover down when back on 100% pump petrol.

all of my hedge cutters are now playing up big time ...i dont think it does them any favours at all runing on both types of fuel ...they where run on aspen from new and only switched to normal petrol about 8 months ago as i was hardly doing many hedges and it was a chore to get aspen plus the expense but switched back to aspen as i had a lot more hedge work i was willing to take on to make ends meet but could not use a hedge cutter for 10 hours a day on normal fuel... I have found 200ts dont like it but they have useless carbs any way unless using it from the start.

In the flock filters in hedge cutters it kind of conjeals with normal petrol and obviously has an effect on carb internals conjealing as well...so given the choice i would stick to one or the other.

Only if it was Aspen 4T.

Using 2T in a lantern would be worse than using regular unleaded!

In Sweden - Aspen is sold at the pump and dealers have large underground tanks containing Aspen. We are a way off this in the UK but we'd be happy to discuss the possibility of a "dealer bulk buying scheme".

 

In Sweden (and in Denmark) Aspen is also sold in 25 litre plastic canister. That seems to be the ideal size to carry around in the van.

 

I then pour it into a 6 + 3 litre combi-canister (petrol+oil) to carry around.

 

The AAOIL avatar shows the 25 litre canister on top of the 200 litre drum, why isn't it offered in the UK?
