Free wood hard to get

Is it me or does it seem really hard to get any free wood these days? Anyone cutting it down wants to keep it, for their use or to sell. 

 

Shame, collecting firewood has been a bit of a hobby but it seems harder than ever to get it free.

Get the odd person ask me about wood, and I am always happy for someone to take it.. Specially if it's willow.

My most recent loads have been oak, cherry and ash. Still got plenty of macrocarpa to process for a nice mix

You do realise a lot of tree surgeons have felt the pinch with the cost of living so have had to diversify into log sales? Likely why you are struggling to find "free" logs..

We were pruning beech branches in a college today, apparently 4 people had asked about the wood before I got out of the tree.

 

I said we should have put it on eBay.

More and more customers are asking to keep the wood either for themselves, friend, relative or a neighbour. If it’s crap wood, at the rear of the property or down a bank I tell them they should keep it, either for themselves, for a friend, a relative or neighbour? If it’s good firewood with easy extraction/ loading and they want to keep it the pegs and branch unions stay on and I run it out to 2 inch diameter in long lengths 😂. Must be a bummer not being able to get something for nothing!
