  1. Not steel toe but I've worn Salewa Rapace/ Mtn Trainers for years now. Very hard-wearing and grippy.
  2. If mostly subby work something very economical.
  3. Once doing roadside felling by the M62 years ago when a lady stopped on the hard shoulder to see if she could put some logs in her car. An artic bulker promptly shunted it about 60 yards down the road🤣
  4. You do realise a lot of tree surgeons have felt the pinch with the cost of living so have had to diversify into log sales? Likely why you are struggling to find "free" logs..
  5. Prices of tippers and Arb trucks gone completely stupid. I wanted a new truck but im not playing the game so will stick with the Landy which is paid for.
  6. Anyone running one of these? I don't have a Bandit or similar to tow around just a little TW 125. Fairly reliable? Dont want a Cab- On like an Isuzu or Cabstar having experienced the bounce of a Cabstar.
  7. Couldn't think of a worse idea at the moment...domestic arb work is 9/10 a race to the bottom which many a time leads to firms paying peanuts. Then lads attempt to start up for themselves in the hope things will be rosier. Keep doing what others say "money isnt everything " but time and your body will soon tell you otherwise.
  8. Absolute nail on the head J. I find it quite frankly laughable how pathetic this country has now become. Its literally an exercise in greed and corruption. Wish I'd moved abroad when i had the chance..
  9. We have a 20kw Woodwarm with backboiler fitted. Does 8 radiators quite comfortably. Saves a fortune on buying oil and we usually burn about 10-15 cube a year.
  10. Sorry to say Neil Buckley has passed away yesterday. Based in Oldham, known as Oldham Tree Services recently. Did my tickets with Neil and was a pretty genuine bloke.
  11. Programmed to pick up the customer who stands under the tree yabbering at you when you just want to go home..
  12. Timberwolf 125/160. Mines served me well for 10 years and not a bit of trouble.
  13. I get the ones with an extensive garden who basically expect you to survey their trees while you chat to them...or expect you to do the TPO application but then not the work. My younger self would have been more accommodating but not now😂
  14. Too much costcutting around a lot of the newer vehicles..subby i use has a 13 plate Navara and starting to look like major welding work required.
  15. Had a couple of blokes start for me doing odd days here and there and they both insisted on being paid in cash. PITA far as im concerned..
  16. If one thing history shows is how desperate a dictator is when backed into a corner...
  17. All either sells or burns..i get customers repeatedly trying to haggle my prices but what doesn't sell i burn.
  18. The 2 party system in this country is a complete waste of time. All far too similar in their actions..seem to be empty promises while they feather their own nests.
  19. There was a study done in America if i remember by a lady where it showed the nitrogen depletion was negligible. It increased only if the woodchip was actively DUG into the surrounding soil but still not worthy of mention. Lady in question had a Doctorate in associated field so not just a speculative assumption.
  20. Had these custom made, 6mm walls and hot dipped, only got them made as the old cappings were knackered.
  21. Have you considered the Mitsubishi Canter? Believe they are still a 3.0 litre engine.
