I visited their site about ten years ago when I was in the market for a 4x4 truck.  Lots of choice, but very much a case of you have to know what you are doing.  They mainly sell abroad and once a piece of machinery is sold I suspect they wouldn’t want to know if it then fails, or has parts missing.

I eventually bought privately as I was able to have a good test drive.  For what I paid I would have been in their bottom range of condition vehicles which had all sorts of potential problems.

But I am sure there are bargains to be had - if you want something no-one else wants!

It is quite an eye opener of where some of our taxpayers money goes.

I found them pretty helpful when I dealt with them. Before we bought, we went down and test drove a few to choose the best one, it was pretty interesting driving round their site with all the ex military kit they have lying around.

When I dealt with them, you had to do everything yourself, they are only interesting in selling it, so you have to sort out registration, etc.... We might have just driven it home on a Sunday and hoped for the best but I couldnt confirm that !

Witham,s are just a MOD surplus disposal site, but if you have the time and patience you can get some real bargains from them as no reserve on any thing they auction, i have bought items that have come from withams and every thing seems to of been OK, but we have to remember everything with in the MOD has to be right and you will find that when cars, vans, trucks, plant and machinery is usually serviced regardless of cost and most are over serviced, Truck below came from Withams 1993 with only 38k kilometers on it, and none of the modern day electrics on it, so happy days for me,,,
