  1. I have had a Holder A55 for 8 years and it works a lot in the woods. I absolutely love it, I rebuilt the engine last year and the parts were quite dear, but if you look after it, it will last you many years. I have mine completely stripped down getting ready to paint it. They are built like a tank, very simple and very robust.
  2. Thanks for the answers. Are you all buying the attachments from Avant/mult-one, or aftermarket ? I presume that they are pretty expensive for what they are.
  3. I am wondering if anyone would mind sharing what attachments they bought when they bought their Avant or Multi-one loader. Have you bought more since, or did you get everything you needed when you bought it ? Thanks for any input
  4. I have Crispi boots for cross country skiing and they are fantastic. I have used them for 9 years now and still in very good condition. I would definitely buy another pair
  5. I found them pretty helpful when I dealt with them. Before we bought, we went down and test drove a few to choose the best one, it was pretty interesting driving round their site with all the ex military kit they have lying around. When I dealt with them, you had to do everything yourself, they are only interesting in selling it, so you have to sort out registration, etc.... We might have just driven it home on a Sunday and hoped for the best but I couldnt confirm that !
  6. I recommend you give Technical Arc some consideration : Technical Arc – The UK's leading manufacturer of welding & cutting equipment. TECHNICALARC.CO.UK The UK's leading manufacturer of welding & cutting equipment. They are UK manufacturers, I have a plasma cutter, a MIG welder and a TIG welder from them and they are all superb. Really great company to deal with and great backup should you ever need it. You can talk to the actual person who screwed your machine together which is worth a lot for me. They also guarantee spares availability for something like 20 years.
  7. The other thing I meant to say is a lot of people obsess too much about the details. Its not like we are going to be olympic athletes. Sometimes when I am not in the mood, they are completely rubbish technique but it doesnt matter I just push on, its better to do some rubbish ones than none at all. Whatever you do, you want it to be difficult by the end. As soon as your condition improves and you find it easy, then make it more difficult ! What inspired me was I once went to a karate course with a brilliant instructor from Japan. He started the training by saying that he isnt particularly good at karate, he is good at training every day. He said that to him it didnt matter if he liked it, hated it, was sick, or anything else, he just did it. We dont generally skip cleaning our teeth based on our mood. To me now it is totally ingrained habit and I cant see myself ever stopping.
  8. I used to have a lot of back problems through my 20's and 30's. Then when I was around 40 I started to do daily training. I reckon most of us are quite strong physically but piss poor in the core (I was !). In the morning before breakfast I do 100 chinups, 100 situps and 100 pressups. It is dead quick, I do it while the kettle is boiling. I did this for about 4 years, and then I added some in the evening, I do 100 chinups, but it is 5 sets of 20 and they are calisthenic chinups so much more technical. Now I am 48 and I havent had any back problems for almost 10 years, in fact I am in much better nick now then when I was younger. I also train karate twice a week and also try and run or cycle twice a week if poss. Daily training is the key, I havent missed a day in over 8 years, even when I broke my ribs, I found something I could do and didnt stop. The other thing is stretching. I hate it, but I know it does me good so I suffer through it. I think that this is probably as important as the exercise as you start to get older.
  9. Think I answered my own question ? It looks like it is driven from the inside of the clutch drum.
  10. Hello, I am thinking of using a 395XP chain oil pump in a different application. Can anyone tell me how the little plastic worm gear is held onto the crank. Is the shaft splined or keywayed or is it just a tight fit ? Also, anyone got a rough idea what diameter the crank is at this point Thanks for your help
  11. Yes I have been on there a lot trying to read up on it. If I can make it work, I would like to convert an old pickup also, just for fun.
  12. When I get time this summer I am going to try and make a woodgas boiler so I can run a genny from it. I will make the first one from scrap, but if I can get it to work, I am going to make a good one from Stainless and make it as a combined heat and power unit so I can heat the house and make electric. I will put a thread up when I do it. I am going to base it off these plans as he seems to have worked out a lot of the problems : Wood Gasifier Builder Set WWW.WOODGASIFIERPLANS.COM The world's most popular wood gas book + video + 2D flat CAD files. Download today. Bonus 1: Engine conversion, Bonus 2:...
  13. Yes, Eos doesnt install on the latest phones. I have it on a Motorola G7 and it is fine for what I want. You can install something called Aurora store which allows you to install all apps through an anonymous portal somehow so you never log onto Google. I have installed quickbooks, banking apps and a few others. You have to be much more selective over which apps you install, certainly nothing google or facebook. This is all about a balance, if you want to get rid 100% of spyware then you would bin your phone and PC
  14. Agreed, it is one of those things that until you start looking into the details of it, you think it is quite harmless. At the end of the day everyone will do what they want, I was just wanted to highlight that it is quite possible to do away with most of it and not really be any worse off for it.
  15. If you install linux, then you would completely wipe the computer so you would start with a clean computer. You dont need to buy a new one, it will work great on an older one, much better than windows. I use Freetube which lets you watch youtube and subscribe to channels but anonomously. You dont get any adverts also which is super nice. I use duckduckgo to search and never log onto google for anything.
  16. I suggest you watch some videos by Rob Braxman. The measures you describe will do little to stop them spying on you.
  17. A quick example : Lets say someone needs help with mental health issues so they go and visit a therapist. This could be a very private matter and in some cases you would be quite right in keeping this information to yourself. Quite rightly so. Well if y ou take your phone with you, Facebook and Google know that you have visited a therapist (Not a therapist, that particular therapist, so maybe they also know why you visited him if they have a speciality). They are happy to sell that information to anyone who wants to buy it. Happy about that ? I am not Once you start thinking about the potential this has, there is a lot to be concerned about.
  18. I have a website, and of course google plays a huge part in traffic being driven to that website. I used to have a business facebook account and I used to get business as a result of it, but I just didnt like the way they operated so I closed it down. Did I lose out because of it ? Probably, but I can live with that. Is it possible that google could provide search engine services without the level of data collection/spying that they do ? Of course they could as could numerous others. My personal view is that the balance has gone too far, so it is reasonable to try and do something about it. Could that have some disadvantages/down sides ? Of course, what decision doesnt.
  19. Thats the most common reply to my concern over this stuff. All I will say is the world changes very rapidly. Look at what was acceptable only 5 or 10 years ago and is border line illegal/hate speech, etc.. now. Just look at cancel culture where they vilify people for stuff they said 10 years ago. How many if us say stuff in the privacy of our own home or circle of friends which is probably not socially acceptable. What if they were recording that and holding that info ? (They are by the way, especially if you have an Alexa or equivalent) The more easy going you are about this subject the more liberties they will take. My view is why let them do it ? There isnt a big benefit, I havent mourned the loss of any of this stuff.
  20. I thought I would share my experience with this subject, hopefully it will spur some others into taking the same action. About 18 months ago, I decided I wanted to do something about my computers and phone spying on me. Myself and my partner both removed most of what spies on you and collects data. We have done away completely with the following : Google account All social media accounts Microsoft account Whatsapp account Google phone Windows operating system Some of these are easy, some are a little bit more challenging, but after 18 months of using it, I can tell you overall it is a fantastic experience. We havent had a single google ad which appears targeted or related to us in any way. Our relationship with technology has changed, it has become a passive conduit for us to use as we see fit rather than feeding and steering us subconciously. The interesting thing is that virtually all the alternative technologies are better (With the exception of google maps, thats the only thing I miss, the open source one isnt quite as good). If you are interested, this is a rough break down of what we do now : We have regular android telephones, but we run a degoogled android. There are several, but we run E OS from E foundation. You can install it yourself or buy phones with it already installed. You dont log onto this phone, you just use it. We are much more selective which apps we use, before installing an app we research who owns the company and what they do with your data, but you can install most common apps and they work fine. Interestingly, the battery lasts nearly twice as long because its not constantly sending data to google. We have regular PC's and laptops, but we run Ubuntu Linux. This is so much better than Windows, totally stable, never crashes, loads of free software We use Signal rather than Whatsapp. You have to persuade your friends and family to swap too, but thats not too much of a struggle. We only use Firefox or Brave web browser, never Chrome or microsoft. We have VPN on all computers and phones There are other small things also, but basically thats the main ones. Once you do this, you can never log on to Google or facebook/social media with these devices otherwise they will start spying on you again. People go on that they dont like the power that the big tech companies have and the censorship, etc, well you can do something about that if you want. If everyone did this, it would take away their power. When I made this change, I deleted my google account and you can check what data you are deleting. I had a look and despite never actively storing any photos on google, they were holding 5800 photos which were all date and time stamped and GPS Located. Thats just not right (I bet they never really deleted them either !). Just think about all the other data they have on you. Anyway, take this info or leave it, its up to you. I am not overly technical and I managed to do it all myself. I can point you in the right direction, but thats all. If you are interested, there is a guy on Youtube called Rob Braxman and he is very knowledgeable on all this stuff. Cheers Tim
  21. Perfect, thanks for that, I didnt see that when I was looking.
  22. Anyone have any idea how much log decks/tables are for firewood processing ? I am thinking of the ones with hydraulic chain feed Thanks Tim
  23. Avesta are really nice trailers/cranes, I would put them the best from those 3. The cranes on these smaller trailers always look frighteningly flimsy to me, but maybe they are OK in actual use. I know someone with an Avesta and he has worked it hard and had no problems.
  24. Yes I read that they were popular in Ireland. Was thinking that if I had it split to fix the gearbox I would put a new clutch in it anyway. I am trying to read up on them on the internet, but its hard to see just how much Massey stuff is under the Legend. Certainly the earlier ones were almost all Massey. I have seen Legends with the same gearknobs as the massey 3000 series so maybe
  25. Anyone got any experience of these tractors ? I am looking at a 1998 Legend 130. Are all the spares available ? Are they reasonably priced ? The one I am looking at has got no reverse gear, so I will have to go inside it and fix it. This doesnt worry me as its a simple gearbox with no electronics. Just wondered what people think of them generally as a tractor. It looks like there is a lot to like, perkins engine, basic with all lever operation, almost no electronics, reasonably quiet and comfy cab, 40kmh. Would be interested to hear peoples thoughts on this one. Thanks
