Around here 100% someone would remove that free of charge, maybe even buy you a drink for it. They may or may not tidy up the brash.

Different areas have different economies though.

If it was local to me Id Mill it for free and Id have someone with me to clog up the firewood. The brash would be getting left and if the owner wanted a slab he'd have to pay for them. We have folk local to me paying £50 to fill a 1t trailer with logs they have to cut from the tree themselves. :D

Hello

Thank you all. It is a huge tree, solid, not hollow looks like there has been an underground stream under it and the roots have given up over the weight of the top ... I am not an expert.. just a primary teacher. We are in the new forest. the trunk is as high as the fence  ( 6ft).

Insurance does not cover this. My hope was once that I could get three planks out of it to make a table top for me and my two children (3 x 1 planks) then someone takes it away and profits from a large amount of Oak. Lots of very thick branches, that are the size of most trees I have seen.

I have been told it is 200 years old. It has a TPO on it... it was in full leaf and looked fab last year. Can take more pics if needed.

So its a tree fallen,  from the look of the footpath from managed land (   local council 🤔 or your land?  ) smashed through old dears fence into her garden, damage and loss of fence and security.... So who owns the tree?  If it isnt yours i wouldnt be logging it up. K

It’s clearly hers.

The footpath is a little bark chip effort she has put in.

I Agree with the rest of the advice. Expensive removal.
The trunk looks like its worth Milling if the acsess is good. The only bit worth Milling is the bit on the path side of the fence. Trunk could be worth £150 max(if closer to road) more likely id offer you some beer for it though. If you want Slabs you can pay me £500 to come mill it for you after the tree surgeon has cleared it up.
