Cheers Eggs, any idea on costs, overlay vs tar and chippings?

Craig

I don't know, you could try David for a price. Although they are based here they work nationwide.

Looked at many options for beefing up access tracks before and the quotes from the Trackway Restoration guys have not been the cheapest, but I’ve tried to dig through the results before and it’s pretty impressive if done properly.

You can add imported rough concrete/hardcore or as dug rock if available, they’ll grind it to a product, grind again with cement, grade with whatever camber required and compact.

Can be cost effective if there’s plenty of material already down or you can get hold of material normally heading for the crusher cheap.

I love using concrete sleepers for access tracks, yes you’ve a bit of hassle hauling them, but not much else you can literally scrape off/grade what you’ve got and end up with a decent ready to use track that you can lift and sell back on if required.

Don't surface dress it as its under trees and will be cold/damp for much of the time which surface dressing really doesn't like. Maybe investigate microasphalt, they can fill those small holes with it to regulate the surface and then smear a layer over the top of everything. Would need work to get the moss/green stuff off first to get decent adhesion. Otherwise 35mm of ac10 or perhaps ac6 overlaid in top would be the option I would pick.

It’s not a basket case, I don’t think the moss is doing it any favours though and needs to go no matter what you do.Patching always looks like it sounds,if the aesthetics are that important top dressing is the only alternative. Personally I would kill off the moss and power wash the whole drive, patch and forget about it.

Cheers Bob, appreciate the advice.  Its the main approach into the property so I want it looking good. I'll get on it with the press washer and cold patch the holes. Have u any idea what top dressing is likely to cost? 100m x 3m?

Cheers Toad, its actually not too bad, it dries off pretty good and im in Cornwall so doesn't get too cold that often.  I Like the micro asphalt advice.  I don't wanna spend a fortune on the drive though, is it a pricy job?
