I don't know about a level maths, I did have to do canny advanced maths when doing my degree in arb though. I could probably handle the GCSE physics bit.
To be fair, I'm more concerned about the amount of people launching themselves off bridges, and the socio-economic effect of failed lockdowns than I am about kids missing another month or two of school.

It was your comment that people who couldn't home school kids shouldn't have them that I was referring to. Not all kids are 6 years old. I did well at school but wouldn't stand a chance of teaching my daughter at the level she is at. My 11 year old son I can handle.
Is also important to remember that kids as well as adults have mental health issues. Some may even "jump off bridges". Miss mental health issues can be compounded by the isolation of home schooling,bad parenting, unstable home life, online bullying etc etc.
All these things are linked and don't assume that all kids are happy at home. Many are abused and have no solace from attending school. If the parents are struggling the abuse may be getting worse.

So the government is taking the opposite approach to it's previous relaxations from lockdown. It's planning to do so incredibly slowly. This won't have the intended consequence though as millions of people are likely refuse to comply with restrictions on their ability to socialise with their friends and family when infection rates are into the hundreds and deaths into the tens. 

 

I'm not waiting until the middle of sodding May to spend time with my mum or my wife's parents. They'll have all had two jabs long before then and my wife and I will have had my our first one as a minimum. My children are desperate to see their grandparents and vice versa. 

 

The government just don't seem to be able to make policy decision regarding covid that comes anywhere close to judging the science or the public mood correctly.

A few days of weather like today has been and every bugger will just abandon lockdown. 

I can't see people complying until April, not sure how many are complying now. Not many people around here but not much if any compliance either.

It's ok saying people won't comply, but that's not going to open pubs, allow flights, holidays etc.

I assume you mean it's not going to open pubs etc?

 

I'm not bothered about that (personally, though I appreciate that that is just my personal opinion). I'm not even bothered about who I see as I'm pretty antisocial. I just see the damage that social isolation is doing to my kids (and others too) and would dearly like them to see their friends and family again. 

 

It's like a speed limit on a road. If you have a straight, open road and set the limit at 20mph, you might get compliance from a few at the start, but it'll quickly be ignored by the majority, even if a concerted effort is made to explain why it's so low. But if it's set at 50mph, and reasons given as to why it's 50mph and not a 60 or a 70, you might find that the majority obey the law.  

 

I'm grateful that they are prioritising getting children back to school, but it's important not to undervalue the significance of close family and friends in the upbringing of healthy, well adjusted children.

I'm not sure where everyone is going to go on holiday, Europe are way behind us on vaccinations, will they open up to UK residents who have had the jab(s)?

 

That said I did here the Balearic and Canary isles have asked the Spanish government if they can open up to UK residents who've had the Jab(s).

 

As for UK holidays everywhere will be packed, just after Boris' announcement today I tried to book on to a UK campsite for a couple of weeks. Both the main sites Caravan and Camping Club and the Caravan and Motorhome Club sites had crashed due to volume of traffic. When I eventually got on to one of them I was number 3019 in the booking queue😂

Reality is at this point J I’d say most people having given it their best shot for best part of a year on and off are now in the frame of mind that they are going along with some of the restrictions but ignoring those that are blatantly causing more harm than good. The easing of the restrictions and the subsequent list of can and can’t dos will I think be mainly implemented in politicians heads. I’m maybe seeing a different attitude being in a rural environment in Aberdeenshire which has had low numbers all the way through for obvious reasons, but most individuals ie Farmers, Tree guys etc etc i come across are not even paying lip service to them.

I took the dog for a walk at 530 tonight and I couldn’t believe how much traffic was about on the way to the woods we go to. It was like pre Covid rush hour so no one is paying much attention here it seems.
