For the guys that know of me you'll be all too aware of the saga I'm having with my 550XP. So I've been told it's coming back tomorrow after 2 moths out of action!! No fault found they said!! So the excuse they came up with for it cutting out whilst idling and not starting again once hot . . . The chain is dull. Yes that's correct. The chain is dull. I'm still speechless. What do you guys think? Also when I'm on ranting. What's the best 50/60cc Stihl on the market? I'm honestly about to tell them to stick it and I'll get a Stihl.

Don't use the auto tunes blunt myself as it does mess up the tuning .. 550 is a strange one I like mine but it can be difficult saw some times but I would not want a Stihl though. Have you ditched the spark arrester and use the primer,Quite regularly I just pull it over with one hand and flat down on the trigger if it does the hot start thing.. then once it's going she behaves fine.!

Don't take this as the wrong way I'm not telling you how to start your saw but what is your procedure for hot starting?

You should prime it several times and start on the 1/4 throttle setting via the choke leaver. This is the hot start procedure as illustrated on the top cover and if they say it has no issues then it should start every time this way. There have been numerous mechanical changes as well which i would hope your saw has since you have had hot starting issues.
