A 14FT adjustable Henchman Tripod will fit on the roofrack of a Ford Transit Connect L2 (and other similar size vans). We use Rhino safeclamp to secure ours. You'll need atleast 135cm wide crossbars to fit the 14FT ladder. You can get away with 120cm wide crossbars if you limit yourself to a 10FT ladder. As others have commented, 10 FT is ideal for most things. 14FT is kind of unwieldy for 90% of the jobs, but is great when you really need it.

Well done, great to see these old saws coming out of the woodwork, excuse the pun, pretty sure there are plenty of these old saws lying around in barns and sheds.

Did you manage to find and fix the problem?

Prestigious is the word Iβd use, not unusual, but not the preserve of everyday folk.

Matty is on the money if you want to run the 14". Drill the bar as otherwise you will have to get chains made up. The stihl 10" needs 57 not 56 dl, the 12" 65 not 64 so I guess you need 73 which isnt available off the shelf, 57 and 65 are.Or do as Mark said and put a 10" on with a 57dl chain. Also as Matty mentioned make sure you have the 1/4" sprocket on your saw.

Just seeing if there's anyone interested in a couple of used exerter charcoal retorts, would be buyers welcome to come and see them working .

I use software from Otiss/Pear Technology. It's about Β£360/year. Helpful support staff. I would do some practice surveys first and get the hang of using it. There are a lot of options re what you record. Then there is the facility to download as pdf files or Excel. I find the Excel a bit of a pain as not too familiar with setting out. Also with such a large acreage, you will have to see what sizes to divide the site up for your online maps. It's a very big site for beginning out on, so definitely do a few practices in a park or small woodland.
