Not Trump bashing but a comment on Vance: Words to the effect of: "The Trump administration has been more transparent on the Epstein files than any other issue" - makes you wonder then if that is transparency is all the other press briefings just made up stories? "I've been on the job training for US president for 7 months if Trump falls ill" - a few months ago there would have been a strong denial of any illness but today? and in other news, Ukraine war has been cancelled, no hostages in Gaza, and the US Militia are sorting out Washington DCs crime problem by litter picking

I haven't read the story yet this morning but usual story I reckon: Disillusioned kid Gets parents gun (that is meant to be secured?) Wants to make a name for themselves is currently often the 'reason' (as opposed to previously to settle some score) Shoots the easy targets In the US blame will get shifted about but never any responsibility put onto the parents for leaving the gun handy in the first place, and there will be strong defence that the type of gun used has a place in society. I'll have to read the story later but I bet that is a fair summary?

Don't take the guard off !! Just take your time -and learn how to adjust your cutting techniques.. ? I'm now so glad I didn't remove the guard, despite how annoying it seemed at first. Just stick with it for a couple of weeks and you'll see what I mean. I really like the 40v XGT version and I'd rate it equivalent to our Milwaukee M18 fuel. Used it on a 40' pine takedown yesterday. Great. The 2511 came up the tree, but I can't remember the last it was used for pruning.

Three chains is probably about right for the amount of wear, I would hope to manage more before replacing the drum. Because the drive link is bottoming out it will be slightly deformed which may make it feel tight in the bottom of the bar groove when you pull it round manually.

Tony flailing with a 2.7t digger is for when you can’t be arsed putting a blade on a strimmer, and tbh sometimes you’d be quicker with the strimmer. If it’s light bramble and jaggies work in areas you can only get a 5’ machine in with a lot of stones or uneven ground, then use the digger and flail. If it’s not that then you’ll soon get frustrates with the flail. More info on you lots of flailing. Regarding the longer boom, if it’s a zero turn machine it will buckaroo you all day long in the seat and will restrict your lifting capacity.

Tracked machine problems advice required.

Yes but fixing on site could mean you have to wait for someone to come out to wherever you are. It's not I could call the AA to get me home. I don't know why they don't offer a system like you say. Something where you can put the machine in neutral so that you can push it out or even tow it out of gear. - Yesterday

No I dont think there is a place for petrol hedgers, perhaps if the job is miles and miles of thick rail veg clearance with a shorty hedger going flat out but then its not the ideal tool for the job anyway. Petrol hedgers are also really bad for vibration and HAVS while battery ones are much nicer for your hands and arms.

If you use the stepped tap it will start following any vestige of original thread, the cutting bit of the step will ream out a hole which is the inner diameter of the helicoil's thread, the tap above the step will then form the new thread. If you use just a single helicoil tap you will need to drill first, this is where mistakes happen. The helicoil is just like the one way clutch you can make with a pencil and a spring of a slightly smaller diameter on it. You can wind it in because you are drivng in by the tang and, as you say the torque causes the spring to wind up and shrink its diameter slightly. Try and unscrew it and it attempts to unwind and jams against the thread, this is why it doesn't extract itself when you take a plug out. it's also why it is most important that the helicoil is short enough to sit totally withing the length of thread. Having a piece of helicoil sticking out of either end of the threaded hole is a disaster. I have never had one jump a pitch when inserting.

Have you tried this bit of the site? https://arbtalk.co.uk/recycling/ I wouldn't recommend woodchip to get rid of weeds though. Not in the long term at least. They'll work for a couple years, if in a sufficiently thick layer, but as soon as they start to rot and breakdown they'll just form fertile new soil for weeds to grow in. Better to use an inorganic mulch like chippings or slate. Or just accept that there'll always be weeds and remove them as and when they get too much, and certainly before they set seed.

This one has me stumped. Tree crown is around 10-15 metres in height and spread. Not a lot of photos as I was slightly distracted by the Naturists in the garden and didn’t want to give them the wrong idea. No matter what time of day it is, why are they always playing lawn tennis?

Just buy the Oregon or stihl can, with the Stihl spouts. Throw the husky one in the bin.

I like how light and out the way the Protos coms are, only really need one ear anyway. Overall I’ve been happy with those, though I can see advantages to the pro coms. Like proper hearing protection.

Late summer is after fruiting, and to avoid damp conditions in autumn as silver leaf likes the damp. I always say "well the books will tell you..... " and then go on to say mostly we ignore that and do trees whenever we get to them else we'd be hungry 6 months of the year. In any case I'm not sure that there is actually that much risk of silver leaf in the average garden, it's more of a stone fruit orchard problem. The spores are released from fruiting bodies on dead wood, so gardens being tidy there isn't much about. Silver Leaf Diagnosis & Treatment | Ashridge Blog WWW.ASHRIDGETREES.CO.UK There is no need to be afraid of Silver Leaf disease, which rarely affects Cherry and...
