  3. My first chipper was a TW 125 when I was doing a combination of my own work and sub contract climbing. The 125 was a brilliant machine that coped with 95% of my work and was easy to maintain and move around driveways or sometimes to the bottom of people's gardens. The only time it struggled was on the larger jobs, especially conifer in the wet!!. I've recently upgraded to a TW230 due to going full time on my own and taking on bigger jobs
  4. Yup, it feels like on the tri act that it's binding on something inside, as it can't be pushed beyond the point on the image. I have emailed petzl so we will see how they go. Will have to go back to Ali crab on climbline, which is a bugger as I like the steels extra weight beeing easier to throw accurate
  5. Hindsight is a wonderful thing 🙂
  6. I live in Norway mate, most people's gardens are pretty wild on the west coast. Plus the cost of dumping chip is pretty high

  8. I wouldn't blame either of these, rather a combination of cutting back too far in the past and branches being shaded by the tree that was removed. What is dead, is dead. Conifer like that has no buds on old wood, it won't sprout back from the bottom so they will always grow like lollipops. I'd take them out, surprised whoever took the other tree out didn't recommend it. As above laurels not a bad shout, otherwise Thuja, maybe yew. There's no magic, fast growing to cover the windows sooner means more work maintaining in future.
  9. Terry Reid, He was chosen originally by Jimmy Page as the vocalist for Led Zeppelin, but he couldn't accept due to previous commitments,Reid recommended Robert Plant who was in Band of Joy, and Hobbstweedle. the rest as they say,, is history. Terry Reid, British musician championed by the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Page and more, dies aged 75 | Music | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Known as ‘Superlungs’, Reid turned down the role of frontman in Led Zeppelin and...

    PayPal

Personally, I would set up a Paypal account. I use Paypal regularly to buy and sell things. I would be reticient to use it as a soul source of payment, but it has its moments. Just add on any merchant fees to your fee.
  12. On the rare occasion I was forced into railway stuff cos I had no other work, the ability to roll a decent joint was always considered a desirable skill. I know guys who do it, I know they wouldn’t be doing it for the minimum wage that’s for sure.
  13. Brother broke his shooting stick Made a new stick from elm but it was too bendy so made this one out of ash. Tested my sowing skills on the leather
  14. The unloading was really no bother. The loading is what killed me. It probably wouldn't have fitted on a tipper without massive greedy boards, which a luton in effect has. Character building stuff.
  15. Time Left: 6 days and 16 hours

  16. A good sharp hand saw, for light reductions. when I’m using a chainsaw, I tend to cut off more then I should. to each his own
  17. I've heard the advice that you shouldn't be selling this job; you should be selling the ten after that. Which does sound good but is quite open ended.
  18. I think the idea of using an impact driver as a way of managing the reaction torque is novel. To me it does have the whiff of snake oil about it, if you could suddenly increase cutting tool performance and life by a factor of two then people like Dormer and Sandvik would be all over it. After all cutting tools have been thought about a lot, by a lot of people. I suspect they are twice as good as cheap tat, and more equivalent to the decent ones that few people buy.
  19. Unbelievably good
  20. Good Morning All.
  21. Yesterday
  22. Again I something similar, I use a quad bike and a flail mower, the advantage being the quad bike has other uses about the place, trailer towing, dragging etc.
  23. Yeah man stoke is no problem thanks for that greatly appreciated ill give them a bell
  24. Monkey Puzzle takedowns are like War stories, never a good 1! Evil trees!
  25. That could be a lovely gaff, if/when I settle in a pile of bricks it will be in Suffolk, or the Staffordshire Moorlands/Peak District
  26. I've used Navara Kingcabs for 18 years. You can add a trailer to carry more and/or make up some greedy boards. Do you have a tripod ladder? If so you can use it to hold down several dumpy bags of arisings; stand on the ladder to press the dumpy bags down and to get the front feet down into the back of the buck against the tailgate and strap the thin end to the ladder rack behind the cab (you need one of those to put mesh onto to protect the rear screen). All sounds a bit niche but it's how I've done small tree and hedge work for all that time (with the trailer bit).
