  6. So this was a predictably disappointing outcome. It's fallen firmly into the realms of the law of diminishing returns unfortunately. Not much more than a load of hot air, (in more ways than one), now. The whole thing needs dismantling, rethinking and rebuilding. Obvious places to start would be to exclude the fossil fuel interests/lobbying and completely change the ridiculous logistics of it all. Or just scrap it altogether. Any ideas anyone, what do we do? Here's two different sets of five takeaways. COP30: Five key takeaways from a deeply divisive climate summit WWW.BBC.CO.UK What did we learn from a climate summit that ended in a deal with no new mention of fossil fuels? Cop30: five reasons the UN climate conference failed to deliver on its ‘people’s summit’ promise THECONVERSATION.COM Deals were agreed but with crucial elements missing.
  7. Its just a big meccano set - instructions are clear and good - did not find many issues in following them, really well built kit. I put a few posts up as we went through the assembly - link below - we built ours up on a concrete slab and did not use any machine assistance - two of us lifted the sawhead on to the tracks

  9. Looks like a farmers saw to me....reckon the owner either has some strange working practices or total lack of maintenance...what a mess.

  12. From what I’ve seen in similar situations, the best way to get an accurate value is to ask an arboricultural consultant to do a tree valuation using something like the CAVAT or Helliwell method. They’ll look at size, condition, amenity value, etc. If the timber has already been removed it’s still possible to estimate based on stump size and photos. Replacing them with mature screening trees can get pricey depending on size, even semi-mature stock can run into the hundreds per tree once you factor in planting and aftercare. Fully mature specimens can go into the thousands. Might be worth getting a couple of quotes locally to compare.
  13. Show them how to disconnect chipper and see what reaction you get. If no one has shown them there's your problem, may only be one doing it wrong.

  18. Morning, monsoon here since 6am. It’s bouncing! Rain before 7, gone by 11! Hopefully. Quick site meeting at 8.30am, then it’s gather up machinery and swap stuff about and then a couple of birches to winch over in the afternoon if the mood takes me.
  19. I must admit to having been to matches at Cardiff, Murrayfield and Twickers and the atmosphere at all three has been epic! Ground level at Cardiff meant that you didn't see much and upper decks at Twickenham in the sunshine was good. The March from Murrayfield to town was also part of the experience!

  21. If you ordered the spring through a Schliesing dealer a quick call on Monday will set you right. I’ve found Dave at overland extremely helpful with any questions on ours when fitting new parts.
  22. Where abouts in Cumbria are you?
  23. An interesting liaison. An unholy union if you will. A Field Maple and I think a Hornbeam in intimate embrace.
  24. I'm not a fan on unnecessary barbed wire, I've found a dead roe buck that probably died from an infected stomach gash that I think was probably due to barbed wire. In the two pieces of woodland I own I've not had problems with the public. The land around our house does suffer a bit from stray livestock as many farmers down here don't seem to believe in fencing. Personally I find it amusing to have a small heard of horned cattle including a bull, cows and calves in our woodland but not everyone does. It will depend greatly on where the woodland is and what you want to do with it. I tend to like a more natural feel, so blackthorn, hawthorne or gorse along with a mix of bramble would be my choice to keep people out. If you want the woodland to look like a carpark or suburbia go with pyracantha etc.
  25. Me too, partner
