Not quite as impressive a picture as some of you post, but my back thinks it’s very impressive! That’s a ten tonne farm trailer three quarters full of chippings. The house now has loads more natural light, doesn’t seem hemmed in, and hopefully will sell better.

I did receive some guidance, training and experience with the m8. Quite impressive. So I bought an F2 with extensions. My forest is an hour walk from my house. Loved setting up my lumber camp, dialing in and adjusting my lumber mill. Then I encountered problems. Like the plastic guiding rails for the sled. Or the fine adjustment of the log lifter. I did ask logosl. The response from customer support has been anything but welcoming or apologetic. More accusative. I can now cut imprecise and insecure. That is my takeaway. So good on logosol, taking away the enjoyment of cutting down slow grown 70 year old Norwegian spruce to fix up my barn. I've already decided to sell the chainsaw mill. I will acquire a band saw mill and continue with my project, but I want to feel relatively safe. Consider this as a reaction to a horrible customer support and a general safety concern which has not been taken seriously.

my neighbor ask me if I could teach his missus how to start a chainsaw, of course I agreed, but she hasn't quite got the hang of it yet,,, I've asked her to come back tomorrow for another lesson.

Danny's funeral was hard, I've an emotional streak that surfaces easily! I can be hard nosed and tough at times but tearful at some stuff. His widow and two daughters plus myself and other SIL, met the hearse, had the harrowing view of them touching the coffin etc and really had to think of other stuff to halt me from breaking down. The walk into the church in front of the coffin in front of 250 plus people was tough. His grandson, Joe, read "If" by Rudyard Kipling with great dignity and the graveside thing was heartbreaking too. Wake across the road in the local was good with decent food etc and several pints and a laugh with a few other folk was fun but the day seems empty now!

It's the sprung tensioning mechanism. Even has a little internal catch for remounting the bar. All well and good until it breaks.

@Ledburyjosh Yes, all good points you make there.. The MDL unit does have an adjustable feed speed, with stress control. It also has the advantage of driven tracks (with a slightly counter intuitive hand-control system, I found). Weighing in at 480 kgs, this is crucial ! I inspected it at their yard today, but didn't have space to bring any branches, to properly test it out.. 🙄 I spoke to a Scottish commercial owner/user who rates his machine well. I'm hoping to try/use/hire a machine in Preston, if all goes well. The machine is pretty much identical to the Oshai tracked chipper, but less than half the price.. It's also sold directly into the Japanese market too.

I have a Stovax Stockton 8 and noticed that the fire wouldn't shut down if you shut all the dampers and put it down to the stove meeting the latest regs. Not being able to gain full control of the stove bugged me so I set about working out where the air was getting in and traced it to the top damper so I made a plate to reduce the air entering the front of the top damper and got the stove working as I wanted it. I can now shut down the stove and subdued the burn as you should be able to do.
