Nothing wrong with using an old climbing rope for rigging as long as it's given an appropriate SWL. I'm guessing that wasn't the case here though.

The only times 120cc is worth it is where weight doesn't really matter and you need lots of power - milling or chunking up massive logs on the ground. I don't climb but I can't imagine that would be great.

be careful you dont get the wrong trousers and get stitched up by a penguin pretending to be a chicken

Yes, I can remember way back getting a Husky stuck at the end of the day and no other saw or axe to get it out. I tried to get the saw off the bar but couldn't quite get the chain loose enough to come over the clutch. Rather than leave it overnight I cut through the tiestrap with a felco wire cutter. @Donnie's tip of withdrawing the saw then using the nose to bore cut the kerf a bit wider repeatedly works too, as long as you do it carefully so that the bottom of the cut has closed on itself before the saw gets jammed. It can be useful if the cut has started wandering off to do this as boring is less affected by one set of cutters being biased to one side if the bar is worn.

4 season anyway, not sure I'll need to swap them out for winter tires every year. Probably just use the skidoo if conditions dictate.

Will take a look at those different options. Typically my battery hand tools are all Milwaukee. Wish they would make the batteries interchangeable Good to know on the blower front. maybe a petrol version of that would be best. Got a bit to think about. the top handle wouldn’t be a purchase for now but always wondered what the performance was like Thanks

I did some digging. They are Eastern White Cedar, or Eastern Thuja. At this point I'll leave them to see how they fare. I considered planting a new row in front of them but if anything is going to happen I'd like to leave them exposed to as much sunlight as possible. Just wondering if some Evergreen fertilizer might help them along the way. Thanks for the tips so far.

Whatever it is Stubby the Finns will take it seriously. One of my sons is currently doing his national service, at the minute they are on a multinational exercise with multiple NATO nations including the UK. Apaches are also over there from the UK.

Starmer scrambles for Balkan migrant deal after Albania snub APPLE.NEWS Bosnia sources say they would enter talks with the UK over a possible agreement Rwanda Cancelled on the first day in power, despite evidence it was an effective deterrent even before it was officially in place. Labour did what they said they would and that’s 12000 illegal unvetted £42k a year immigrants so far this year. 👍👍

Just be aware “bark” chippings are different to arborists wood chips? Bark chips are from when soft wood is “peeled” to remove the bark for stakes, rails, jump poles etc. Arborist wood chip is when everything is chipped - the clean timber, branches, leaves - the lot. Bark chips give a relatively long term decorative finish, wood chip can be unsightly and will eventually rot down?

Good prompt, thanks. I need to check mine carefully again.

Dead branches on apple tree.
slack ma girdle replied to waterworks's question in Homeowners Tree Advice Forum
If the tree is producing huge amounts, then leave it alone. It is quite happy, and the bits of dead wood are potentially important habitat for rare beasties and fungi . My apple trees are the most unloved trees in Pembrokeshire with loads of broken branches, dead wood, and no pruning. All fruit prolifercally. Buggering around with a mature tree will just stimulate vigorous regrowth, and become counter productive. -

Bulk Arb Waste wanted - can collect but how to find
Rob_the_Sparky replied to Woodwanter's topic in Firewood forum
FYI the local small tree surgeon I get my wood from is saying: more people elect to keep the logs, he gets rid of a lot of it by advertising on Facebook and then I take the few ods and ends he has left. He has no problem getting rid of the wood he does not want and TBH would be too small for you anyway. N.B. a few years ago he used to dry and sell logs as well but the new rules put paid to that. (mostly anyway) -
It looks like the heartwood of a living tree has been decayed by a white rotter, this has eaten the lignin, leaving the squashy white cellulose. So some of the fuel value has been lost, once dry it won't degrade further and as you have got this far I would keep it, it will just take up a bit more space for its calories.

Leave it till winter- just not worth the coughing, choking, potentially vomiting. No employer should be asking you to do these in the summer. only minimal work if it’s an emergency then as Mick says above 👍
