Hi . ive a 2016 TW 230 back up chipper, hasnβt been used for a year. Had it serviced, new belts and a bit of a tidy but when I went to try it out this evening, the feed rollers spin forward when engine revved up , ( without pressing forward paddle) Reverse paddle has no effect. red light on plug on top bidirectional solenoid valve is on once revved up. when I took off plug, reverse working. Im guessing something wrong in the control box, or do the forward paddle limit switches ever stick on ? I checked and cleaned the plug ofthe cable to the stop bar and paddles , it was clean and dry. Any ideas? Thanks

I've had many pairs of Meindl boots over the years and although I've always found them super comfy you do have to take this problem into consideration particularly if buying second hand boots online. The problem is age related breakdown and decay of the PU sub-sole as in your pics, and it's not only Meindl but other brands... in fact any boot with a PU sub-sole. My guess is that although you bought them new, to get to that stage in only months that in fact they were really quite old when you bought them...maybe even when Gustharts bought them. IME the Achilles heel of boots like these is the PU sub-sole that over time crumbles into dust. You could complain to Meindl, but maybe it would be better if Gustharts did this, if they sell a lot of these boots they must be aware of the problem. I have had a brand new S/H pair resoled but they were done at the Meindl repair shop in Germany, about Β£120 but I don't expect that that would be very acceptable if you paid Β£300 for them 7 months ago and they're falling apart. I know for a fact that you just bought old stock. cheers.

I was there in November, strain guages everywhere and screw adjustable jacks/supports, so presumably they "tweak" the individual props to balance the loading, but I imagine I remember it was all fabricated steel, with wood blocks only where the steel met the hull? cheers,

Our Polish son in law asked me did I know any likely suppliers, here in N. Ireland, because another Polish joiner friend of his has built himself a traditional Oak framed and pegged house for himself, down about Dublin somewhere, which has resulted in a few people asking him to build them a similar dwelling. But he needs to source the Oak? I can only suspect with the RoI being in the EC, and the Polish connections, that it would make sense to import the timber direct from Poland? Or what could a U.K. supplier or sawmill offer? Since any prices I have found when searcing online appear to be exhorbinate. I will be phoning the few contacts I know of here in N.I. tomorrow. I would obviously need to get more detail re likely lengths and quantities. But any other input would be more than welcome. Thank you, in anticipation, Marcus

Fancy hidden lock stitching for a low profile eye, perhaps a bad design decision and huge QC failure. Mistakes happen, most climbing companies have had a recall or two. Petzl have had many... Marlow Ropes issues urgent update over stitched splicing in one product WWW.FORESTRYJOURNAL.CO.UK Responding to recent speculation on social media about a possible fault with this, the manufacturer has reiterated that no other ropes in its range⦠It means the spliced ring I did last week is far from ideal, but I note that DB spliced rings are available to buy with the same rope. Anyway will only use for small stuff. Stein give the same splice rating with the ring and without so perhaps the difference is small.. The vassa in Sweden is supported by pine props , I asked them weight to prop ratio or how many tons each prop supports , Back came this abrupt answer - were trying to work and we dont know ! Vasa is a big ship! -

Well if their recent splicing cock-ups are anything to go by, it's the equivalent of phoning me for sex advice.
