Ask for a tap and die set for your birthday! If you use them gently (oil, fward and back etc) even the cheap ones will work fine to repair stripped threads. Sorry if you have done this but check the manual for the valve clearances and set them to the midpoint. I find setting valves incredibly temperamental and it often requires several attempts. Normally the tolerances are given as a range, ive sometimes fixed issues in used engines going for the tighter end of the range, if that makes sense.

Thanks for your responses guys. I'm really trying to get an idea of how well made this machine is, and how it might handle say, wet conifer/gnarly hawthorn ? I suspect maybe poorly, like our old gravity fed machine, than our timber wolf 150 -but the various machine owners in the Somerset area must know, first-hand.. 🤔 TIA

The type of work you are thinking of doing are you going to buy right machine. Would of thought not big enough to make life that easy or be productive enough. Ground clearance is what you need to look at, I know from using my Tobroco giant in woodland with odd high stump left and not seeing one until to late and sitting on top of it.

Fitted Loncin engine to my stump grinder after Honda started breathing oil heavy. Straight fit apart from safety switch wiring but got it sorted in the end. just need to check shaft size when ordering metric or imperial.

Did you de-stress the crank bearings after screwing the crankcases together? Unlikely to stop the engine running completely but usually missed by many. The rest of it, could be anything and depends on your experience in rebuilding engines and fuel systems.

I don't know the machine, but a general risk from rebuilding is a slight error eg intake boot not assembled as airtight, then everything is new but as soon as it starts and you get it off choke it's running lean with insufficient lubricant.

I decided not to use resin so used wood glue and the fine sawdust from the sanding. Seemed to work. So my wife has put at least half a dozen coats of Tung oil. How should we finish it off or is that ok. Does it need sealing with something or left to breathe?

trouble with pedestrian 'walk behind' grinders the engine is getting further from level the deeper you grind. Ebay sometimes has some Raycos and Carltons 'new engine fitted' A 350cc two stroke liquid cooled grinder using a Yamaha RD350 lump

Bolognese made with Turkey mince. We've got a glut of Basil, hence the heavy garnish. Turkey is underrated and under used I think. Having slices of dry old breast meat just once a year is silly. The thigh is much better and versatile; minced or diced it's a good substitute for pork or beef.

The fact you can balls up a Honda makes me wonder whether we should all have a bit more sympathy with Briggs and Stratton.

My friend did it all. He sent off the slab to another guy who planed it AFAIK. Cracks were filled with a clear resin and then some oil or coating. Sorry I don’t know the full details, I just saw the table at his house and it looked great.
