Weld and grind works. You'll have to put a weekend aside, well, that's how long it took me to get rollers out, couple of beads on both edges, grind and put it all back together. Worth it though. Make a note of the edge angles, because you tend to lose them when the bead is on. I ground one first, before beading the rest and used that as the guide

I had a young lad from reece heath, when the college closed for covid. It was all official, quite hard work, had quite a bit of paperwork, covid risk assessments as well as all the usual. Most work took longer than normal, stopping to explain, no corner cutting etc. Very first day he was with us, we had to cross a stream to get to site. Rickety old bridge, I slipped and dropped the ms200 into it! Turned it into an educational exercise 'stripping down a chainsaw'

Don't know how things work these days, but I'd be tempted to make them a silly offer for it. It was 25 yrs ago, I had a car stolen. Ins paid out £400.00. The car turned up about a month later, with panel damage, but driveable. I bought it back off the insurance Co for £30. Didn't repair it, just ran it into the ground. Things might be different these days, but worth an ask

They don't have the right to climb on any part of the tree in your property. That may restrict the amount of work they can do.

Agree with you there. Means testing. But I think it will be blanket offer. Easier and quicker to get out. I don't think anything is out yet, but there will some government help coming. There has to be, for some

No, but a secure plan put in place 10 or 15 years ago simply isn't enough for some people. Hopefully, there's more people like you, that will reject any government assistance, leaving a bit more for those that need the help

Those sort of prices could easily be 20% of some peoples income. Thankfully for you, not yours, but there are people in that situation.

It seems to me, that anyone of us on here could be reading this thread and thinking, hang on, that was my job. And it ends up here because of a silly comment one of the crew has made, possibly a joke taken the wrong way, either without thinking or just because it was time to go home -

Just on the evidence, and not the 'who said what to who', I'd be inclined to come down on the side of the tree surgeon. They seem to have got the tree down, taken it away, take it they didn't do any damage? Cowboys tend to leave all the brash and destroy the fence. They might've even suggested to the letting agents removing the roots, but as that would probably double the price, the agents said no? -

If you are going to do it, you are starting a cycle of regular maintenance. I don't think the amount you're talking about reducing it by will make any difference to the leaf, seed shedding issue. If they are determined though, the advice you give them won't make any difference. That's my experience anyway.
