  1. Any debris should be visible. I was thinking it might settle in the tank. Then the vibration of running the chipper agitated it and sometimes causes a blockage, hence the fault being intermittent. Just clutching at straws really. If you and your mechanics can't suss it, it's probably not that?
  2. Moisture in fuel tank, or some sort of contaminant/debris in tank?
  3. The person quoting you either doesn't want the work or is trying to rip you off surely. I might be wrong, but get someone else to have a look. Most people won't quote from a pic, but if you can put one on here, people will be able to confirm this. Maybe he's scared of chickens.
  4. 3400 rpm rings a bell. I'm not a mechanic, but I've got a 190. I seem to remember the rollers won't activate below 3000
  5. I'll be dismantling a dead standing elm in the next month. The customer has asked me about the possibility of carving the stem, in situ. Who's the carver on here from the Soutport area?. Would Wirral be your patch? Or anyone else interested? It could be a waste of time, the tree is in a flat's communal garden and not everyone has agreed to the idea yet. If anyone wants to give me their number, I'll pass it on. Or I can give you the property managers number. Thanks
  6. Yes. Obviously that is the aim , but I doubt if this will achieve it.
  7. The most gimmicky of all gimmick policies. Are we going to have 29 year olds hanging around newsagents in 10 yrs time waiting for 30 year olds to buy their ciggys?
  8. It will be part of the road soon!

    Green spark plug

Got bikes. Moved onto 4 strokes years ago. Was taught to blip and stop engine. Didn't really understand why. Thanks.

    Green spark plug

It does look like copper oxidation. But doesn't that need moisture to set off the reaction. Was that the spark plug immediately after use? Or did you inspect it a few days later?
  11. Agree mark. If you asked me to watch women's football a few years ago, I would've refused to to give it a chance. But, watch it with an open mind, it's entertaining. Just not the same. Comparing it to men's footy is pointless
  12. Has it got an engine overheating protection system fitted, that might need re setting? If you've used the chipper for a prolonged period in this hot weather it may have been enough to trigger it
  13. I've heard he did it twice! They weren't happy with the footage, first time!

    Splitys

Exactly. I only looked at this thread cos I saw the title 'splitty'. Thought it was a completely different subject!

    Splitys

I've got a long list of things I blame him for. But in this case, he buys a split sceen, his followers immediately feel they need one. An already inflated price goes up by another 10k. He's got history, scooters, pizza ovens, you name it

    Splitys

    I blame Jamie oliver
  17. Yes. Butterscotch. Saw one last week on my hols, Cawdor Castle, Scotland. Got to admit, I didn't know it.
  18. Not sure where this 'middle of a field' is coming from
  19. It's only things you should be doing anyway, daily, weekly, monthly.
  20. Was thinking the same . I'd be more than happy to f off if someone wants to give me 50 quid
  21. 31 years in the fire service has taught me, you can train as much as you want, the reality of a situation that is being described here will bare no resemblance to training for it. I admire the stance of the op, but how far are we prepared to take it? Refuse to work if training competencies aren't up to date? Unfortunately, that wouldn't get you very far in this industry. Another point, I can envisage a scenario where a qualified, competent Climber could go to pieces in a serious situation, and a groundsman that has never climbed a tree in his life could come to the fore. Think someone mentioned this before, It must be a rare occurrence, any stats?
  22. About 50/50. Fluctuates depending on the time of year. I like the predictability of trimming jobs, you can virtually predict to within 10-15 mins how long they are going to take, making it easy to plan days. When i first started, the fella i worked for used to say if we got a small cherry take down in a front garden, 'these are the jobs you want, 8 of these a day would do me'. Obviously, he was looking at them as the most profitable. Not what i wanted at the time, but now, i agree with him. Maybe its a fault in my pricing, but the smaller jobs seem to offer the best profit. Do people add on to the price for bigger jobs for things they might've missed?. I tend not to

    The irony

It's a funny old world. An outpouring of grief for some billianaires spending hundreds of thousands to go on a jolly in an uncertified vessel, and yet some people seem almost happy when a boat full of people seeking asylum is lost.
  24. I've a makita that I'm pleased with. Nothing to compare it to though
