  1. Why do you need line closure? I've done emergency rail work felling trees 2.5m from railside, on a live line. Whilst surrounded by rail HSE. If it's not over the fence? Just rig everything, very slowly.
  2. A grand maybe £1500-£2000 But north of 4K??? I can't honestly imagine who that's marketed at??? [emoji23][emoji106]
  3. Just realised it's brand new. Oil the bar before putting the chain on. [emoji106]
  4. It's a duromatic bar. If it's smoking, it's either too tightly tensioned, oiler not turned up, or it's blunt and you're forcing it. And that insert bit at the end will fall out. It's irrelevant. [emoji106]
  5. Might need a charge controller to avoid overcharging. Only a few quid. Yiu can also get sealed units for outdoors. [emoji106]
  6. Used walkie talkie radios on a big site once. Couldn't hear it over a saw. Was time saving being able to call in a machine, as opposed to walking over and waving. Only reason we stopped using them was the batteries died within a few hours. Definitely useful in the correct circumstances. [emoji106]
  7. Honestly don't know. But I'll be writing a letter to dvla/hmrc etc to ask formally about re regeistering. I'll post both up when I get round to it. [emoji106]
  8. Nice carving [emoji106] Have you thought about yacht varnish?
  9. It's true, husky fuel cans and spouts are crap. I bought one years ago thinking its half the price of the stihl ones. Worked fine. Then I read reviews saying after 3 months they leak. 3-4 months later. Leaking fuel and oil. Went in the skip. Bought stihl. Still using them. [emoji106]
  10. @wonky might be able to help.
  11. What about a home made/diy/heavily modified vehicle? For 20k you could get a ridiculous vehicle made. Defender chassis, Perkins engine, Up rated everything, Ranger body for comfort, Forestry/hort registered... [emoji848]
  12. Nice little pippy Elm for Spuddog. [emoji106]
  13. Hmmm. Ok that's the last thing I ever buy from China.
  14. Local school asked me to quote on their woodland and school trees. 33 mature trees to deadwood and several removals. Caretaker told me best quote was £850. I just laughed, told him it was impossible. I'd want 2.5-3k. I'll see him next week and have a look at the work.
  15. Doesn't matter what month. What matters is debarking and dry storing for 2-4 years before using them. Need a mc of 14% or below ideally. Wet chestnut will rot like any other wood. [emoji106]
  16. Yeah, it's going downhill. Used to be some good staff there. Bit of a sausage factory now I here.
  17. Yeah, ash goes pop when dry. Bruised shins. [emoji106]
  18. Plumpton college near Brighton
  19. You've got a point there [emoji106]
  20. Wow! That's some epic grain mate. Might have to mill some more [emoji106]
  21. Phone hmrc. I'm SE, and I regularly phone hmrc. I politely explain my complete lack of understanding of the tax system and could they help me. Normally the advisor will be very happy to explain the intricate and complicated system in an understandable way, Especially when they aren't being shouted or sworn at. Unless you're good at paperwork, might be worth paying a book keeper or accountant. I'm looking at this now cos I'm not great with it. Also they will be able to give you simple tax advice. SE is liberating but will be a struggle at first, cash flow, machinery, staff, premises, training, insurance, vehicles, Etc.... Plan carefully. [emoji106]
  22. Stihl battery saws are pretty good. No pull start, just chain brake off and zip. They cut surprisingly quickly. Just have to remember to check oil levels. [emoji106]
  23. Can't recommend espresso machines at all. Too tempting... Had one for 6 months... 3 double espresso's in the morning? [emoji12][emoji51][emoji477]️[emoji477]️[emoji477]️
