  1. I think the guys who told you, didn't understand what they were being taught. Bore cut to relieve tension and reduce barbers chair on leaning tree, Dog cut to release. Can also be used in forestry to avoid a slow fall getting hung up. Don't try this on a vertical tree without wedges.
  2. Amazing photography Silky, As usual. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. Fair points. [emoji106]
  4. Standing ovation [emoji1319][emoji1319][emoji1319][emoji1319][emoji1319] Make friends with dog using bits of dried sausage. Then as above. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. ??? Ok ten 30" trees, drop and ring. You with a 261, 16" bar Me with 661 36" bar. Who's going home first? [emoji848] I entirely agree about small saws being able to fell large trees, but it takes sooooo long to ring up cutting from both side. I also agree with age, I tend to go for a lighter saw, but big wood needs a big saw with a big bar. Unless it's a hobby. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  6. Pour a few tea spoons of diesel over it. Next day a gentle tap with a small stick. Might work? [emoji106]
  7. 100% this. [emoji106]
  8. Big uprooted trees are particularly dangerous, a wind blown course would be an idea.
  9. Just pay it. It's your responsibility. Even volunteers are classed as employees.
  10. Yeah stihl 261
  11. Try China, farmertec etc. About a £5. Delivered.
  12. So go hire some kid, fresh out of arb college. Loads of tickets. Completely useless as has no experience on sites.
  13. Colleti, Put your day rate up by £10 In six months time do it again. If you're good at what you do you'll get it. [emoji106]
  14. When's the last time you had to get a plumber, electrician, chippy etc. £200+ per day That's all over the country. My point is if we under value our services we only have ourselves to blame. If employers don't want to pay a decent/competitive wage, they face staff problems as we constantly see on here. People leave and setup their own business.
  15. If you under value yourself, your abilities and your kit. That's your choice.
  16. You can't buy 12 years of chainsaw and tree experience.
  17. 0.5mm of wear then change.
  18. I'll say it again. And people wonder why they can't get decent staff? Start fecking paying a decent wage. [emoji51]
  19. That's your rates not mine. [emoji106]
  20. You presume wrong. Most firms I work for on a regular basis have been about and know how much a decent worker costs. I agree some firms just want someone in ppe. I do that occasionally.
  21. You want a pro with all the kit to do a job,or a 20year old to drag brash? If it's the latter you're not going to call me. I expect a half decent wage. This is subbing. No holiday pay No sick pay All my kit upkeep, aspen, bio oil. Work that against paye, I'm quite reasonably priced.
  22. Chipper grade
  23. I know how to use all that kit to make your 3 day job into a 2 day job.
  24. No. But lime can have.
