I was taught to flip the quarter every cut. Better quality grain but many different sizes of timber. [emoji106]

I use a simple system. A cube 10cm each side is a kilo. Ergo a 60cm log 2m long is about a half ton (green). I'm always 10-20% under weight. (Towing) [emoji106]

It's not heartwood me thinks. The growth rings went in and out of the coloured centre. After lunch the Sitka arrived for the log bed, and we went to collect some monkey puzzle and some more small Elm. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

I was told "sorbus" I'm guessing it's Rowan by the heartwood. What do you think Steve?
