  1. Anyone read the article on the BBC this morning. Older gangsters are paying and coercing young vulnerable kids to stab and shoot each other. Ban adults? To understand false logical premises in an argument, Look at a Ven diagram. As soon as you start generalising you miss the point. Everyone is an individual. I don't like drugs, legal or illegal. However keeping the market in the hands of international organised crime??? Look at the death rate in Mexico. Or South America Asia Africa 3-4 deaths in London Is a side show distraction from the real goings on. Look at the history of Afghanistans opium trade, The golden triangle, The South American cartels. All controlled by the CIA and intelligence agencies. READ YOUR HISTORY!!!! [emoji12][emoji106]
  2. Willow is marketed (in France) at 180m3 per hectare every 3 years. Specialist combine harvester mows it and chips it.
  3. Or should we look at the maths? If 20% of the population live in one city, why be surprised when 20% of the crime happens there? I lived in a sleepy French village when I was younger. Population about 3-400 Every few years someone would kill someone else with a shotgun. Lovers tiff etc. That makes it statically more dangerous than london. Don't believe the hype. [emoji51]
  4. 1st place is a French dish. (Serves 1)[emoji12] Take 100grams melted butter, add flour to stiffen. Slowly add 1 litre of veg stock. Add 50-100g button mushrooms fried in butter. A large, generous glass of port for yourself. And one for the sauce. Roll up 12 wide, thick slices of quality ham, put in a baking tray. Pour over sauce. Bake for 40minutes at 180c Pour another shot if port over and blend in with a fork. Serve with French bread and butter. (Not for sharing). [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. Dates wrapped in streaky bacon, twenty minutes in a hot oven. That's my second favourite starter. [emoji106]
  6. Cheese in bread fried in dripping. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  7. This is a question which comes up very frequently. It's a perspective thing. From the sellers point of view it's a big log which might be valuable. From the buyers point of view it's completely different. We have to price logs on a daily basis. We know what we are looking at. For example a 8' x 3' oak log can vary in price from about £20 up to £2000. Knowing where your log is in this kind of range is a skill you learn. It's always worth posting decent logs on here, I'm always after quality logs and there's lots of other millers on here too. Don't let Dempsey wind you up, He's actually a really knowledgable and decent bloke, just as blunt as a chipper blade after 10k hours.[emoji12] [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  8. Tuna mayo/salad cream with sweetcorn on potato/pasta. Side salad optional [emoji106]
  9. Yep oak/s.c will last 20+ years in mud if properly seasoned. [emoji106]
  10. Yep staghorn. Quite pretty and stays small. Pull it out. Next spring anything showing pull it out. [emoji106]
  11. Stihl 661 brilliant saw. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  12. I'd rather a "last chance to see..." party at seventy five. [emoji106]
  13. The 56" GB from you is pretty dam flat on a 60" panther mill. Going to get the 84" GB bar and 80" panther mill set up next week. Be interesting to see how that works out. Got some seriously huge trunks coming soon. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  14. 1:Type local Treesurgeon into google. 2:Phone them all up. 3:Be honest about your ability. 4:Be prepared to travel long distances and work long hard days. 5: Don't ever give up [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. Logan's run or soilent green? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  16. How do the canon bars compare to the GB bars? 60"+ what's the flex like? [emoji106]
  17. I pay extra for those ones. [emoji12][emoji106]
  18. Just seen this... [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  19. Got very wet, but it was worth it. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  20. I don't think that's an adze or axe. No curved blade markings. Possibly sawn then chiselled or square edged gouge.
  21. I sell nearly all my Wood Green and fresh. Often it's sold the same week it's milled. So the presentation of the wood is paramount. Washboard gouges put most clients off as its so much work, especially on huge boards to take down 5mm. Sometimes I do use 10-15 degree top plate to cut faster if the client has specified over thickness for machining later. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
