  1. Cleaner even cut, less chatter. Slightly slower in the cut, but far more accurate. I do use 10 degree chains on some commercial jobs for speed. Depends on end use, most of what I cut is high end bespoke table tops. [emoji106]
  2. At some point in the future... I'll sell everything. Chainsaws, mills, vehicles the lot. Buy a small forest, Live with the trees, plants and animals. Might keep an axe or two. [emoji106]
  3. Have you seen the ones where you drill a 1"-2" hole Down about 10" then a horizontal hole to meet up. Log stove. [emoji106]
  4. Went for an afternoon of chain grinding in the cellar. The new guy is a fast learner. 3/8 full chisel, full comp, 0 degree top plate. Later I'll grind 0.65mm depth gauges [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. Got the pippy oak on the log deck, then rain stopped play. These logs are about 200-500kg each 2.5 m long. Great external signs, can't wait to see inside... [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  6. Cutting board? I'd hang that on my living room wall. With that grain it's art. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  7. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106]
  8. Since I joined Arbtalk my knowledge and business have expanded immensely. So much advice and experience on even the most detailed subjects of arb. It's turned my work from local to national, and opened many doors. As well as getting to meet some proper good folk. Hats off indeed Steve. If you ever need a table top... [emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  9. Personally I'd go 2x 2.4 and slab it. Most people don't know what quarter sawn means, let alone want to buy it. Shame as its the best. [emoji106]
  10. Great journey Steve, thanks for sharing. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. I think you're little red one is a corker [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  12. Hmmm that has been suggested... The only issue I have is the nails. I cut through them with the chainsaw mills, but a band would blunt or snap. And I cut a lot of nails[emoji51] One day though.... [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  13. Tree work is sparse here too, only the milling, boards and miscellaneous wood keeping us afloat. (Just) [emoji51][emoji106]
  14. Nice bit of burr there mate [emoji106]
  15. It's even possible it's in the stump.[emoji848] But in my experience, it's about the 3rd-4th board in, and a 4" nail. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51][emoji106]
  16. Yep that's terrible.[emoji51] Damn shame as that log looked real tidy. [emoji106]
  17. Bit wet today, so went to see a certain Arbtalk forester... Brought a couple of little pippy oaks back. [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  18. Couldn't say. But definitely a lump iron. [emoji51]
  19. Nice little cherry too [emoji106]
  20. More test cutting with the 60" panther on the elm. Bit more of the beech cut too, on the logosol f2+ [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  21. One of my favourites... [emoji23][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  22. Heavy, heavy reading. Not for the faint hearted.
  23. Well researched Rob, Had a feeling there'd be a reason no one sells them. [emoji106]
  24. Stihl msa200 with the 300 batteries. Great bit of kit, the only issue is I hate sharpening the tiny little chains.
