  1. Thanks for the support guys[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  2. Oak burr is much better, goes deeper into the wood. Some of the burrs fell off when we were milling the birch. They were almost external to the trunk. Got some really burred birch to do in the next few days, so I'll find out with that. [emoji106]
  3. Finally got the big spalted Ash milled, still maxing out the 30" bar.[emoji106] Then onto a very burred piece of birch. It was disappointing to find the burrs didn't penetrate the wood very deeply. Interesting spalted colours though. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  4. "Conversion" Carving rugby ball shapes out of said wood and shouting 7!!! loudly before throwing the ball very quickly at... [emoji51][emoji13][emoji12][emoji106]

  9. Early days. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  10. It will come about, But only if we get organised and cooperate. The various market forces are looking favourable. It's being able to put a proposal forward to offer a level playing field for producers, combined with a viable business plan for manufacturers and media exposure. There's a long list of organisations who would have to be involved in a process like this. It would take years. But what a difference it could make.
  11. I encourage the competition. So much of our native, local hardwood goes to chip. It's wrong. But to change a proportion of the public to understand will be a slow education. If the major manufacturers realise there is a growing demand/market for locally sourced/eco friendly/responsibly sourced wood, they would be interested. With the growing concern over de-forestation and climate change, locally sourced hardwoods will be favoured hopefully. I can see a market for "fair trade" UK timber. A fixed market price like coffee for the producer. You'd need a long list of local sawmillers though. [emoji848]
  12. French taxes are crazy [emoji106]
  13. Eggsy you've missed my point. I agree it's sh*t in London, I've got family who've been stabbed and hacked with machetes. It's an emotive subject. I'm not offering answers. My point is when the magician says look left.... [emoji106]
  14. [emoji23][emoji12][emoji106] They are all evil bar stewards. Who wants to be colonised? [emoji106]

  21. Ever read any Huxley from the 30's Talks a lot about the impending war everyone is waiting for... The social recipe they had then wasn't that different to today's nationalism. China and Russia have expansionist agendas. Silk Road, sea ports, rail infrastructure from New Zealand to Ireland. America and Europe have weakened economically and politically. The EU is collapsing, and America has trump. Yeah. Interesting times... [emoji51]
