  2. Yep oak/s.c will last 20+ years in mud if properly seasoned. [emoji106]
  3. Yep staghorn. Quite pretty and stays small. Pull it out. Next spring anything showing pull it out. [emoji106]
  4. Stihl 661 brilliant saw. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. I'd rather a "last chance to see..." party at seventy five. [emoji106]
  6. The 56" GB from you is pretty dam flat on a 60" panther mill. Going to get the 84" GB bar and 80" panther mill set up next week. Be interesting to see how that works out. Got some seriously huge trunks coming soon. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  7. 1:Type local Treesurgeon into google. 2:Phone them all up. 3:Be honest about your ability. 4:Be prepared to travel long distances and work long hard days. 5: Don't ever give up [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

  10. How do the canon bars compare to the GB bars? 60"+ what's the flex like? [emoji106]
  11. I pay extra for those ones. [emoji12][emoji106]
  12. Just seen this... [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  13. Got very wet, but it was worth it. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  14. I don't think that's an adze or axe. No curved blade markings. Possibly sawn then chiselled or square edged gouge.
  15. I sell nearly all my Wood Green and fresh. Often it's sold the same week it's milled. So the presentation of the wood is paramount. Washboard gouges put most clients off as its so much work, especially on huge boards to take down 5mm. Sometimes I do use 10-15 degree top plate to cut faster if the client has specified over thickness for machining later. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

  18. Cleaner even cut, less chatter. Slightly slower in the cut, but far more accurate. I do use 10 degree chains on some commercial jobs for speed. Depends on end use, most of what I cut is high end bespoke table tops. [emoji106]
  19. At some point in the future... I'll sell everything. Chainsaws, mills, vehicles the lot. Buy a small forest, Live with the trees, plants and animals. Might keep an axe or two. [emoji106]
  20. Have you seen the ones where you drill a 1"-2" hole Down about 10" then a horizontal hole to meet up. Log stove. [emoji106]
  21. Went for an afternoon of chain grinding in the cellar. The new guy is a fast learner. 3/8 full chisel, full comp, 0 degree top plate. Later I'll grind 0.65mm depth gauges [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  22. Got the pippy oak on the log deck, then rain stopped play. These logs are about 200-500kg each 2.5 m long. Great external signs, can't wait to see inside... [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  23. Cutting board? I'd hang that on my living room wall. With that grain it's art. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  24. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106]
  25. Since I joined Arbtalk my knowledge and business have expanded immensely. So much advice and experience on even the most detailed subjects of arb. It's turned my work from local to national, and opened many doors. As well as getting to meet some proper good folk. Hats off indeed Steve. If you ever need a table top...
