  1. The ones I cut earlier this year, near Ayr. Cutting oak is generally slow but very rewarding. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  2. Thanks Squaredy. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. Where as if you'd have said "Oh well we will leave it be" And it had collapsed on a neighbours child. You'd be crucified. Congratulations on doing the right thing. Point that out to FB botherers. [emoji106]
  4. Yeah. Seriously thinking about taking up power lifting or getting an apprentice. Just can't do the heavy stuff as quick as the younguns. Going to get some of those massive oak slabs from Scotland next week. Hurts already. [emoji106]
  5. Anyone sitting on a 48" bar for an ms880? Im desperate and poor as usual. Must be straight and cheap. Pm me. Thanks Saul [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  6. Been having "trouble wit mill". Lots of lateral chatter, gouges in the slabs. Not happy. Found my 48" bar is curved by about 2-3mm. Just enough to make the chain hop out at full revs. Had to trim the beech to 74cm wide. As my 661 36" bar will cut 75.5cm Made the boards quite light and manageable. And this is the difference 24hrs of air and light make to colour. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  7. It will work but not as well as a correct size file. As you go down the tooth it will become too large. 20% above the tooth edge is optimum for most chains. Learn the art of hand filing [emoji106]
  8. Hi Squaredy, I'd be interested to mill it, But I'm up to my neck for next couple of weeks. Probably could do mid-end of May? [emoji106]
  9. Got another 3 slabs off before my neck/back went twang loading on my own. [emoji51][emoji106]
  10. Make sure you get diagonal support bars for stability and tie it onto the building. Very wobbly.[emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
  11. They are heavy, slow, loud, crap AV, changing the chain or bar is a pita. However that saw will still be running long after all the modern plastic saws die. [emoji106]
  12. Yes. Tons of it. Give me a call. [emoji106]

If you are interested in joining a national saw milling directory? Have a look at the previous post, Who's in? [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. Thanks for all the feedback[emoji106] How about: 1 Business name 2 Areas covered 3 (optional) description/milling capacity/bandsaw/Lucas/Alaskan photos? 4 Contact details Feel this allows the option to be as discreet or open as you prefer. [emoji848][emoji106]
  16. Milled this beech today for a client, It had a fist sized rot pocket,[emoji51] Pushed the 4' felling bar halfway in[emoji51] Didn't know if it was worth milling.[emoji51] Then like a small fire... Which grew... Finally found the rot, Last couple of boards will be a resin job. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  17. This is a private client. I bought the log to mill in place. I'll ask Bob about highfields when I speak with him next. [emoji106]
  18. Are you putting glass in fresh cut timber?
  19. Both. I travel nationwide milling for clients, and I know quite a few tree surgeons and foresters who call me when they have a really nice log. But often the majority of my work is tree surgery. The milling has really taken off this year though. There is money to be made but it's not much, hard to be a full time miller. The retailer of the mirror gets the big slice. [emoji106]
  20. Only had a couple of hours today on this beech. Will get back to it later in the week. [emoji106]
  21. Nice setup Mark, Is that a logosol F2? [emoji106]
  22. Today's view from the yard. [emoji51]
