  1. Thanks all - looks like using the right size file and learning the art is the way forward.
  2. I've got a Husky 440e and am using a Carlton K1 chain. I'm only a light user and in the past I've always taken my chains elsewhere to get them sharpened. I'm using the saw more frequently and want to sharpen the chain myself. I'm tempted to use the Stihl all in one tool but the round file in it is 4.8mm whilst the stipulated file size is 4.5mm. Will using a file that is .3mm too big make any difference?

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
