Last time we got hit a few months back, they climbed over two 8'+ steel gates, Kicked the shit out of two alsatians, ripped the locks off all containers, Moved the vehicle parked in front of Saw container, Cut through lock guards with cordless angle grinder, Cut all hardened locks. Made off with 25k of tools. Now someone is staying on site every night. I don't own any big machinery, all my kit goes home into my house every night. Total ball ache. The Mrs complains about sawdust/mud through the kitchen. No easy answers.

Andy and eggsy aside..., An observation... The more intelligent you are, the more you should earn. This premise fascinates me. It's a superiority complex. See it all the time. Doctors,business men, lawyers etc If we are all equal humans, why would intelligence matter? Whether you're a bin man or doctor, a days work is a days work. [emoji848]

It's the economy of running a bandsaw. 4 stroke engine running on straight pump fuel, water as lubricant, cuts ridiculously fast, bands are very cheap. If you charged £40 an hour, no one would bat an eyelid, and you and your lad could both have a pay rise? [emoji106]

@£30 per hour for 8 hours, that's £240. My over heads are £175. I'd be on £65 for 14 hour day at that price. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji12][emoji106]

Chainsaw milling is a bit different to bandsaw milling. Let me break it down. An hour plus per chain on the grinder. Grinds £25 off a £100 chain per job. An hour or two driving to site. 7-8 hours onsite. Every time you hit a chunk of metal it's 45-60 mins filing off another £25. Another hour of two driving back. Bars are £400+ when you've bent it/ worn it 10litres of motomix £40 6 litres of bio oil £35 Panther mill £700 Ms880 £1800 By the time you've loaded/ unloaded your looking at a 14 hour day minimum. I charge £395 a day. Take out: £40 saw fuel £35 oil £50 half a chain £20 vehicle fuel £25 for 1% value if saw and mill. That's £220 I earn for a 14 hour day. I charge £150 with a 261 for 7-8 hours. Any less than £395 is insane. Also the wood I cut is often worth £395+ a slab. Hmmmm Price just went up to £450. [emoji106]

Mine turned green within days of milling. Took it to a mate who has a big unit. Clouds of mold spores. Did I mention it's sticky?.... And spiky?.... [emoji12]

Sounds way too cheap. But possible.

My day rate is £395. 7-8 hour day. If I had a mobile bandsaw I'd be charging £495 a day minimum. Don't undervalue yourself. But "mates rates" if it's a two way street. [emoji106]
