  1. What book? If its Stihls own manual I think we both know the answer to that question.
  2. Yeh ripped through the Cherry and Oak in no time. Was a lot of fun. Yes, they changed out the Mill just after New Year. Annoyingly they stated they wanted to replace everything so I could not get started with the Bed, then they said they just wanted the Sawhead back. I managed to break the Sawhead on setting it up and had to wait a week or so for new springs but by then I was back to Norway for 3 weeks. Just the way it goes. Off to look at a load of Oak today, see what the guys wanting for it. They seem to deal a lot with England and send all their good stuff down there. Their prices are £200 a ton for premium, £100 a ton for good and £60-70 a ton for large limbs, ie 750mm and under, what I can get on my Mill basically. Would be nice to get a bunch of Oak and Ash drying. Im only borrowing the Teli-Handler but it sure makes the job easier. Thankfully I can borrow it on the weekends in exchange for some milling work. But its a hassle loading it up on the Trailer, securing, transporting then the same again when done. So it all works out, but once I get the Trailer Package I'll need a way of maneuvering the logs onto the Mill when out and about. I would be interested in seeing your Trailer when you get a chance to take pics. If Logosol take to long to market theirs I might do the same, but I'll get a Blacksmith to do the work. Yeh, the Jeep gets a fair amount of abuse. Its a great 4x4 and tows 3.5t. I can take it anywhere my mates can take his Defender, much to his annoyance. With the Back Seats down the 088 made up to a 48" Mill can slide in, the 064 on the 36" Mill sits at the side and the First cut System sits under it all when broken down.
  3. Finally got my Bandsaw up and running. Milled a Cherry Butt for a friend, a small Oak Log for myself and resawed (resawn) a 500-600mm 4" Slab in half. Was a fun afternoon and the Mill was ace! Went though it all like butter.
  4. Seemed like such a good idea, was the teething issues to much for Granberg to bother with? Glad you guys are taking it on though.
  5. Would love one of them! Do you find it pays for itself?
  6. Would not surprise me. Roughnecks where also tucking their coveralls into them and when tripping out the hole their boots where filling with mud or brine.
  7. Banned most places offshore now as you said no ankle support. You dont live on Cushnie farm do you? I used to live at the first cottage at the bottom of the road when I was a kid. When the Mitchells owned Castleton Farm.
  8. In my opinion it was certainly implied. If not all then what percentage would you say are Arseholes? You may think they are telling you how to do your job as I think you have a huge chip on your shoulder regarding, lets agree on, a large percentage of 'the rich'. I personally think they are tired of every single poor person taking the piss out of them and trying to screw every last penny out of them. Now Im not saying you are, but as I said before they do seem to be permanently on the back foot and defensive. I see it time and time again with large land owners. The 'poor' are consonantly taking the piss. I was discussing with one recently regarding his two Electric Chainsaw Chain Sharpeners. He genuinely thought I was trying to buy on off of him on the cheap he even said I could take one. When I explained I was just curious which one he preferred his attitude changed immediately. I told him Im not taking or even wanting to buy one, but keep me in mind if he does ever come to sell one. Sometimes its justified. Just think how stupid the average person is, then consider half of them are even more stupid than that. Well here is an example of a few who you most likely got right as being arseholes.
  9. I hate Rigger boots. I think they are banned in the Norwegian Sector now? Not 100% though. No ankle support.
  10. Thanks. Good to know. Id not really have bothered with Ash before but sounds its like its worth milling and drying. What thickness would you suggest?
  11. I’ve bought a small sawmill. A Logosol B751. Will take a 30” log. What dimensions would you Mill it to? I’m trying to visualise what you’d Mill to make a good enough profit to buy a single log for £450.
  12. For one 30ft length 35" in Diameter? Really? What would you do with it to make it worth paying so much?
  13. Tax evasion! Of course! Yet strangely the top 1%, thats those on over £150,000 a year, so will include some Doctors and Bank Managers pay something like 28% of tax in the UK. Yet somehow they are also evading tax. Can you show me proof of a Locum charging £1400 a shift? There has been examples of this but its the exception and not the rule. I dont have an issue with that. They studied hard for 7 years at a minimum plus three years additional training and most likely incurred huge debts. On that £1400 they will have to pay substantial amounts of tax, on top of their salaries. I think you're picking on the wrong people here....
  14. I guess its how you define rich. From some of the posts here being Doctor or working high up in a Bank with a Million Plus house is considered Rich. If you dont know what kind of education they would need for these jobs then I'm sure you could google that to find out. You might find them all Assholes but its a very sweeping generalization and simply not true. So someone rich wants the job done cheaper. Could it be that Trade people in the past know they have money and rip them off? So that now they are constantly on the defensive. Im not rich, not by a long margin, but if I tell people I work on Oil Rigs they immediately change their tune and I very often get a 'its alright for you' type attitude. For example if haggling for something. Ive had plenty people tell me I dont need the money saved. So now I'll just say Im a mechanic, much easier. At least 'rich' people wont be out to rob you. The stolen items section here seems to be filled with hard working folk here who have had their stuff pinched. I doubt its the rich Doctors or Bankers of the world moonlighting as thiefs. But surprisingly you dont think 'poor' people are arseholes.
  15. I thought as much. I just thought it could be an option, maybe they could have a look and would have a Multi Meter etc.
  16. Is calling the AA or RAC a stupid idea?
  17. Id have to see that for myself to be honest. Never realised so many here read Norwegian.
  18. Cant argue with that I suppose. I guess Ive been proved wrong. What penance do I have to fulfill? I do find it odd that at least two Stove Manufacturers stipulate Hardwood Only though. Why would they do this unless they had good reason for doing so? Why would they intentionally lose potential Softwood burning customers unless they had a good reason to? Same with the Norwegian Institute, I mean the Norgies are a Nation devoted to the Stove. They are also still bloody worried about Russia invading. We have Bomb Shelters in all our work buildings by law (old law) Anyway, they have spent feck knows how much researching this, and take it way way more seriously that we do in the UK. I cant help thinking they know more than we do in the UK. I sure dont have all the answers but having friends with literally thousands of acres of land, so much land they have mountains, mountains covered in Birch they laugh at the thought of bothering to drag softwood out. They save Sawmills, Salmon Rivers you name it. All old family land. Makes me super jealous.
  19. Ha ha, know the feeling. I always wondered why my wifes car had loads of dings at the front and back but then I remembered what I told her 10" looks like.
  20. Maybe the Norwegians just put that in the book because they think its junk wood?
