  1. Well its definitely the time of year for wee leaves.
  2. My point was not all Stihl copies are made of cheese. And being made in China does not mean they are automaticly junk.
  3. Thats true. It would not go to waste. I know a chainsaw carver. He could make me a toadstool. For some reason he sells them like hot cakes.
  4. No, most likely not. But its supposedly Bone dry, so was an attraction in that regard. The seller has a Mill so I'd assume knows a bit about wood. Id take a drive over and throw it in the back of the Jeep for £50 and a nice drive over the hills and maybe make a new contact. But I'll not bother for £100.
  5. What a shame. Big big ball though! Surely it was worth milling anyway?
  6. US$ 265 - 92cc Holzfforma® Blue Thunder G660 Gasoline Chain Saw Power Head Without Guide Bar and Chain Top Quality By Farmertec All parts are compatible with MS660 066 Chainsaw - www.farmertec.com WWW.FARMERTEC.COM 92cc Holzfforma® Blue Thunder G660 Gasoline Chain Saw Power Head Without Guide Bar and Chain Top Quality By... They've sold over 10,000 of the G660 now. Thats mad. If they where even remotely as bad as being made out Im sure it would be well know. I wonder if Stihl has a done a comparison with this saw or thought better of it as it works as well as their own?
  7. Each to their own. Like I say dont have one. Im just making a point that lumping every saw made in China together is inherently wrong. Ive not looked into the legalities of the Farmtec saws.
  8. Must be made of cheese then.
  9. Yeh, being made in China is not really a valid argument when Stihl makes some of their saws there. And lets not forget your iphone is made there to. Its all down to quality control and materials used. Some very nasty copies made in China, or Pakistan, or where ever are made out of cheese and die just looking for them. It seems like Farmtec are perhaps a different class? They have a huge following in the US and there is dealers in the US, Canada and the UK.
  10. Of course the irony being Stihl make a lot of their saws in China.
  11. The thing is they do seem to be decent saws. If you look on the farmtecs FB pages users have had them for years and used and abused them and they do seem to hold up. There will always be Saw Snobs in this game but if these Farmtec saws are as good as the users seem to indicate then why not? If/when something does break replace it with a genuine component. Ive not got one and I cant see me getting one either, Id sooner buy a good second hand Stihl saw, but I can see why there is a market for these saws and if your livelyhood does not depend on it then why not?
  12. Naked of course. Maybe a few choice branches or chainsaws to hide peoples modesty. ?
  13. A charity calendar? You could be responsible for maintaining the thread and selecting the pictures for each month. I see you already have a few members posting their suggestions already.
  14. Ive never used or seen one of these saws in action other than joining some pages on FB and they seem to have an almost cult following now. Reviews seem to really good. Their warranty on parts seems to be great as well. Every single genuine Stihl part will swap right over. The Chinese sure know how to reverse engineer thats for sure. With the patents expiring on a lot of Saws what they are doing is not even illegal anymore. A lot of guys seem to be swapping out the standard oiler with a Stihl HO one and a few other components as well. Many are using the G660 as a Milling saw and have a couple of years hard use on them. They are supposedly bringing out a G880 this month, I'll be watching that with interest. Not sure if its the same Chinese saw above though. 15. Yip, but I’m working away from home and it will have to wait till I get home. Plus my Brother-in-law is in the loft plumbing the new heating system and wanted me to wait with the insulation till when he was finished. Another 4 weeks and we’ll have it done.
  16. We live in an old stone farmhouse that currently hand single glazing and no insulation in the walls or attic. We've lived here for close to 6 years but bought the place in July so starting to make the needed upgrades. First upgrade was to open the fireplace in the Livingroom and install an 11kw Wood burning stove. We've exposed the original stone wall behind the fireplace and intend to carry this on to the whole wall this winter. Second upgrade was removing the old Oil Fired Rayburn from the kitchen and knock the bricked up fireplace in and install another 11kw Stove/Range that will do our cooking in the kitchen, heat the kitchen, run a single radiator and do the hotwater. Third upgrade is on-going and thats a 26-35kw Outdoor Oil Fired Condensing Boiler. This will be used to keep the chill off and as the new 280 liter Hot Water Cylinder is a dual indirect coil will kick in if the Kitchen Stove is not on. Fourth upgrade is Double Glazing in January. Fifth is start throwing as much insulation into the loft as I can. [emoji3] But currently as its not insulated, or has double glazing and the Oil is not plumbed in yet we're burning a 1.25 cubic meter bag of wood every 3 days. Thats feeding both the living room and the kitchen from about 07:00 to 22:00 and then filled and slumbered all night till 07:00 the next day when the fun starts all over. [emoji3] Later this winter we'll be adding a Stove to my 17 year old Daughters bedroom and eventually ours as well. We have 6 chimney pots in the house and intend to open them all back up for use. [emoji3] I best start chopping and seasoning more logs. [emoji50]
  17. As I thought. You know where this is going I see.
  18. I asked a separate question though, the clue was in the names I listed.....
  19. Do you find yourself agreeing with Tony Blair or Gordon Brown?
  20. Yeh, when I’m starving and completely broke I think the most nutritious and filling items are Watermellons and Angel Whip. Clearly not hungry and most likely a repeat offender.
  21. Agreed. Thanks for the insight. No replacement for displacement! Now there's a term I dont hear too often outside the world of American Muscle Cars, Mopars in particular.
  22. Remember when you ripped those pictures off the internet and passed them off as yours on here and then thanked people when they gave you praise for them? I do, that was funny. Maybe you should post more pictures of your work instead of constantly belittling other peoples work? That would be nice.
  23. Maybe the HM130 max can cut a width of 30" but a HM130 can handle a 30" log but I think the Cant is 24" or under? The Logosol equivalent recommends the bigger Engine option if maxing out the Mill regularly with Hardwood which is 18hp. But if Im honest with the 14hp engine and Ripper Blades the 14hp does not really struggle till the Blade is dull altjhough I keep an eye out for the 18hp engine on ebay.
