  1. For the project you have in mind it’s not gonna be the end of the world if there is a little play. The green sleepers will dry and the hole get bigger. But the seasoned dowels will swell when the absorb ambient moisture. So will remain tight.
  2. You would not get as many logs milled with an Alaskan as you might hope. For example a 1m wide Beech Log 3m+ long will take the best part of the day to Mill. You'd get started on the second log, maybe even get a good way through it but Id be surprised if you get any more done. Different story with a Bandsaw so if you can find one and can move the logs around you'd get a lot more done in a day.
  3. Now now Leslie, you're starting to sound a little homophobic and you've verging on sexual harassment. Surely in this day and age its acceptable for a man to open up about his sexuality without a Neanderthal berating him for that on an open forum? People have had chaps on the door from the Bobbies for less. Would not want that now would we.
  4. Im just chauffeured to work in them, I dont own one.
  5. Yeh, not to bad with the longer days here now. See how you get on but if you're struggling drop me a PM and we can sort something out. When are you planning on having them milled? Post some pics up when you get them dropped.
  6. Hello, punch in your location on the site below. Its affiliated with this one. You should find someone local to you who could assist. @Johnsond might be able to assist as well. I have an Alaskan that could handle that size but its a fair hike from Forfar. Sawmill Directory | Find A Sawmill Near You | Sawmill Directory SAWMILLERS.CO.UK Sawmill finder for the UK market. 7. Maybe so? Have you spoke with the neighbour yet, they might be accommodating to having the tree pruned if you covered the cost. If thats the case then both of you could turn a blind eye to the Crows Nest, it might even be empty. If they are not accommodating Id be looking into getting a Cherry Picker in (if there is room to get one down there) and pruning back to the boundary line. Wont help that much with Acorns and leaves but will help a bit I guess? ps, just read the house is actually empty. Well, you know what they say. Forgiveness is easier to get than permission.
  8. Wait? he 'Bird Nesting Season' is officially from February until August and it is recommended that vegetation works (tree or hedge cutting) or site clearance should be done outside of the nesting season. However, in reality the nesting period may start before this and extend beyond it, in some cases.
  9. Its the 21st Century Leslie, you need to expand your horizons beyond Lambs and live a little.
  10. That’s Logosol prices! 🤣
  11. Oh I dont need that silly. I know where they are.
  12. If he plays his cards right.
  13. You need to speculate to accumulate. Can you imagine how slow it would lifting the Cant every second pass to lift the Cant off and put a batten down then replace the Cant. Not to mention buggering your back. For the sake of an extra £500 for what looks like a very effective system verses a lifetime of a buggered back you'll have wished you spend the £500. Plus the money to be made off of featheredge is quite substantial, the initial outlay of £500 verses the production rate of the Woodlands kit would see it pay itself on the first or second order. And coming from a man thats just spunked a bag of sand on shiny new toys when I bought the same Grinder with an outlay of about £200 and most of its brand new now. You can edit Wiki yourself, change the name to your own, you deserve it.
  14. Mikes got a thing about us getting naked. Im game for it if he is. We're in the same country at the same time. Its as if its fate waiting to happen. I could be in Bergen if that makes it easier for him? We could take the Cable Car together, no one would see us holding hands.....or anything else for that matter.
  15. I've got the Rigs IT guy working on it right now. Said he should find the issue.
  16. Awww, I was getting all hot and bothered at my desk too. Come on, I'll even ask for a room with a bath. There is a nice Floating Bar as well, I'll treat you. xxx Takes two to tango baby, and you're wasting your Sunday on this nonsense and I'm counting down the hours to shift-change. But as long as we both enjoy it and you've got thoughts us us getting naked then I guess its as good a way as any to pass a lovely Sunday afternoon.
  17. You're really committed to this, eh? Perfect. "Its just a Stump Grinding Job" "Oh, thats not a Tree, this is a Tree" Let me know when you feel like ending this so we can go back to the actual discussion and not your angry attacks and thoughts of seeing us naked together. I mean, we're both in Norway so it could be made to happen. You bring the Booze and I'll bring the Flowers. Ive even got a Hotel room booked in Florø tomorrow night, will give you plenty of time to head to the chemist for some KY and drive over. xxx.
  18. It looks like a cracking bit of kit and for only £500 it seems like a steal! Lap Siding Attachment | Woodland Mills USA WOODLANDMILLS.COM
  19. If you're just needing the same degree of angle then surely there is a simple method of clicking up and down from that angle?
  20. Thats cheap as chips! I might get that myself.
  21. Considering you started the angry personal attacks and derailed this thread I should really be asking you the same question.
  22. " Its just a Stump Grinding Job".
  23. I’m getting paid to write this. Are you? [emoji16] Not wasting a second of my time. I’m waiting on a Chopper that’s due here tomorrow at 16:00. Plenty more time for this all on the customers time. [emoji16] Anyway, no wonder some folk are pricing themselves into the ground when there is people like yourself dismissing this kind of job as simply a Stump Grinding Job. You are really doing no one a favour by acting the big man and not considering that sizeable Oak an actual tree and dismissing at least half the actual job as meaningless. Or most likely you’ve come in guns blazing and was so desperate to put me down you made yourself look like an utter fool by not realising the the whole scope and thought it was “just a stump grinding job” and to prove your point you refer to the very first picture in the thread where there’s a sizeable oak there. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️Now you’re back peddling like crazy and going for the ad hominem attack instead. 🤣
