  1. Milled a customers Sycamore. Just over 40” x 4m got a few nice if plane slabs out of it.
  2. I’m burning a 1.25 cube net bag of logs every 3 days. 🤣 Boiling hot water. Roasting house (to hot for me) all for free! What’s not to like?
  3. Was chatting with him yesterday. He seems ok and has a few plans in the works supposedly. Looking forward to seeing what they are.
  4. Governed on a local level and relying on locally raised taxes?
  5. The merchant was £23 inc vat for 4.2m x 137 x 16mm
  6. Just called the local sawmill for a price for cladding. They have no stock and won’t have till near the end of the year due non-trade accounts. The local timber merchant has 137mm x 16mm larch cladding in at £5.50 a board foot. Suddenly £3 a board foot does not sound so bad.
  7. Good grief. What a load of nonsense.
  8. Not seen any actually. No time for TV. [emoji16]
  9. I don’t know how I ended up using board foot to be honest? Now that I have I find it easier to visualise and price. The Norwood App is quite handy. Punch in the dimensions and you get board feet. I have in my head what I charge for oak in board foot. Im very new to pricing up as I’ve mostly milled for my own supply.
  10. Cheers J.
  11. What’s that in board foot? 🤣
  12. I’ve got orders coming in the Larch but I’m unsure what to charge. £3 a board foot seems the going rate for 153mm x 18mm cladding. Does this sound right? Would the same BF price go for 6x2” etc?
  13. Yeh, the 084 is fair ripping through the log. It was bogging down yesterday and after a quick tune its really gobbling its way though it. Looking forward to trying the skip chain with it maybe tomorrow or the day after.
  14. Only a couple of slabs off today. Quite happy with them though.
  15. It’s up to 52” in diameter in places, so yeh I could get a few beams out of it if I was gonna go down that route but I’ll not bother. There’s other big oaks down on the estate that are up to 10m long but in a smaller diameter. Still big enough to get a 12” beam or two out of them though. Not sure what the market for them is though.
  16. No plans as yet. I get half and the estate owner gets half. Looks like we’ll get 3-4 x 4” slabs each. I’ll just stash them with all my other Oak till either the time is right or a buyer comes along.
  17. That gets shipped to Jabba the Hutt obviously. 😁
  18. How did you manage to edit your post from 2nd to 3rd pic without the edited message at the bottom?
  19. Made a start on a fairly large Oak today. Just getting the two ladders needed for the 6.7m log square was a faff. But just taking the top off revealed some stunning Oak. Looking forward to tomorrow when I’ll start taking some slabs off.
  20. Well, we dont all have bags of cash to blow on shiny new toys I guess and its cost me less than £200.
  21. I have a friend from Logosols hometown. No discounts though. [emoji16]
  22. Then after a few hour hiatus playing with the kids I ruined another oak for the Frame. 😁 Nice bit of “brown oak” I guess? Will be a new front porch. The short 2m log needed a helping hand onto the mill. So needed to mill an 8”x4” beam that can slide up and down the log deck to suit.
  23. Had some Ash on today. The plan is to make a dining room table out of this. Have a bigger butt I’ll mill with the Oanther.
  24. I’d stack it at the bottom bow side up like in the pic and weigh it as much as you can. Only time will tell if it’s firewood but it’s gotta be worth the chance if you have the space for it. if it’s firewood I’ll have another Birdbox in ultra small please. I’ll have worn out my first by then.
