  1. Gonna give this a go! got all the materials at home. I’ve three sheets of 100mm Kingspan kicking about. That should do the insulating job and a bunch of Larch to mill for the cladding. And we’ve just replaced the washing machine. 🤣 Just need to have beans and cabbage for dinner and I’ll be all set.
  2. You need to spend 10 days in quarantine every 6 weeks. Forearms like steel braided cables.
  3. I was just throwing your comment back at ya. No idea really. Even when I buy a setter I'll not be doing it every sharpen unless its very obvious it needs it.
  4. I’ve sent each blade away up til now. Sharpen and set. I’ll get the sharpener up and running then maybe do a sharpen or two on each blade before sending them off for a set and sharpen. I have about 30 bands now. So will keep me going a while. Not all of us have the cash to spunk loads of money on shiny new toys all the time.
  5. Ah right. Remember that timber framed houses and barns have been built out of green oak/timber and dowels for hundreds of not thousands of years and many are still standing. Stacking a few sleepers on top of each other and knocking some dowels in to keep them together is not gojng to prove a problem. You could also half lap the ends to lock them in better.
  6. For the project you have in mind it’s not gonna be the end of the world if there is a little play. The green sleepers will dry and the hole get bigger. But the seasoned dowels will swell when the absorb ambient moisture. So will remain tight.
  7. You would not get as many logs milled with an Alaskan as you might hope. For example a 1m wide Beech Log 3m+ long will take the best part of the day to Mill. You'd get started on the second log, maybe even get a good way through it but Id be surprised if you get any more done. Different story with a Bandsaw so if you can find one and can move the logs around you'd get a lot more done in a day.
  8. Now now Leslie, you're starting to sound a little homophobic and you've verging on sexual harassment. Surely in this day and age its acceptable for a man to open up about his sexuality without a Neanderthal berating him for that on an open forum? People have had chaps on the door from the Bobbies for less. Would not want that now would we.
  9. Im just chauffeured to work in them, I dont own one.
  10. Yeh, not to bad with the longer days here now. See how you get on but if you're struggling drop me a PM and we can sort something out. When are you planning on having them milled? Post some pics up when you get them dropped.
  11. Hello, punch in your location on the site below. Its affiliated with this one. You should find someone local to you who could assist. @Johnsond might be able to assist as well. I have an Alaskan that could handle that size but its a fair hike from Forfar. Sawmill Directory | Find A Sawmill Near You | Sawmill Directory SAWMILLERS.CO.UK Sawmill finder for the UK market. Find a company in your area. A directory of static and mobile sawmill businesses offering...
  12. Maybe so? Have you spoke with the neighbour yet, they might be accommodating to having the tree pruned if you covered the cost. If thats the case then both of you could turn a blind eye to the Crows Nest, it might even be empty. If they are not accommodating Id be looking into getting a Cherry Picker in (if there is room to get one down there) and pruning back to the boundary line. Wont help that much with Acorns and leaves but will help a bit I guess? ps, just read the house is actually empty. Well, you know what they say. Forgiveness is easier to get than permission.
  13. Wait? he 'Bird Nesting Season' is officially from February until August and it is recommended that vegetation works (tree or hedge cutting) or site clearance should be done outside of the nesting season. However, in reality the nesting period may start before this and extend beyond it, in some cases.
  14. Its the 21st Century Leslie, you need to expand your horizons beyond Lambs and live a little.
  15. That’s Logosol prices! 🤣
  16. Oh I dont need that silly. I know where they are.
  17. You need to speculate to accumulate. Can you imagine how slow it would lifting the Cant every second pass to lift the Cant off and put a batten down then replace the Cant. Not to mention buggering your back. For the sake of an extra £500 for what looks like a very effective system verses a lifetime of a buggered back you'll have wished you spend the £500. Plus the money to be made off of featheredge is quite substantial, the initial outlay of £500 verses the production rate of the Woodlands kit would see it pay itself on the first or second order. And coming from a man thats just spunked a bag of sand on shiny new toys when I bought the same Grinder with an outlay of about £200 and most of its brand new now. You can edit Wiki yourself, change the name to your own, you deserve it.
  18. Mikes got a thing about us getting naked. Im game for it if he is. We're in the same country at the same time. Its as if its fate waiting to happen. I could be in Bergen if that makes it easier for him? We could take the Cable Car together, no one would see us holding hands.....or anything else for that matter.
  19. I've got the Rigs IT guy working on it right now. Said he should find the issue.
