  1. Me neither, that’s what I asked if he ate them and if they where in fact edible I’d give them a go. Although they may well live up to 100 years does not mean that they all are anywhere near that age. You could just toss the biggest ones if it was an issue. And keep in mind other freshwater crustaceans get eaten here in the U.K. and the US in abundance. I think I’ll just carry on and worry about the heavy metals later in life. [emoji849]
  2. I don’t know to be honest? I eat mussels from the sea but I don’t know how old they are, they eat the same kinda stuff. Oysters live for 20 years and we eat them. I’ve had Conch in both Key West and Tonga and they live for 40 years. So I don’t see longevity and what they eat being an issue. So in hindsight yes, if they where edible I’d eat them.
  3. Did you eat them?
  4. Almost a shame to turn this one into 6” beams. [emoji1]
  5. Figured out why that page was missing from my manual. My older version does not have the slider. I guess I could drill another position for the rod.
  6. Looks like the sun brought out the milling for a few of us.
  7. Don’t I know it! 🤣
  8. That’s noting more than false equivalence.
  9. Geeez, how did I get roped into this one. 🤣 Actually I just got back from Norway on Wednesday and after a few beers I told the missus to get ready for 8” of fun. She asked if that was in two or three instalments [emoji24]
  10. Although I’m yet to mill with two Powerheads my understanding is you can use two different sized Saws. Once the Mills buried in the log you’ll not reach the slower Saws max Rev limit. Just don’t Rev the tits off of them off the log. 🤣
  11. I like the stipulation of taking a centre slab as well as payment. I’m gonna add that from now.
  12. Having read almost all of Retired Climbers posts there is very little I disagree with. So you’re just gonna have to wait a little longer. 🤣
  13. Not to mention you're almost pulling a pension.
  14. You should try it, its quite liberating. Im heading back in 3 weeks, I could hold your hand (as it where)
  15. You definitely have the Mr Bean touch about you. Everything you do seems to be a slow comical disaster. [emoji24]
  16. Anyone on here win this? I had a cheeky bid but was outbid at the end.
  17. Gonna give this a go! got all the materials at home. I’ve three sheets of 100mm Kingspan kicking about. That should do the insulating job and a bunch of Larch to mill for the cladding. And we’ve just replaced the washing machine. 🤣 Just need to have beans and cabbage for dinner and I’ll be all set.
  18. You need to spend 10 days in quarantine every 6 weeks. Forearms like steel braided cables.
  19. How hot can you get the water?
  20. I was just throwing your comment back at ya. No idea really. Even when I buy a setter I'll not be doing it every sharpen unless its very obvious it needs it.
  21. I’ve sent each blade away up til now. Sharpen and set. I’ll get the sharpener up and running then maybe do a sharpen or two on each blade before sending them off for a set and sharpen. I have about 30 bands now. So will keep me going a while. Not all of us have the cash to spunk loads of money on shiny new toys all the time.
  22. Ah right. Remember that timber framed houses and barns have been built out of green oak/timber and dowels for hundreds of not thousands of years and many are still standing. Stacking a few sleepers on top of each other and knocking some dowels in to keep them together is not gojng to prove a problem. You could also half lap the ends to lock them in better.
  23. Stop what moving?
  24. For the project you have in mind it’s not gonna be the end of the world if there is a little play. The green sleepers will dry and the hole get bigger. But the seasoned dowels will swell when the absorb ambient moisture. So will remain tight.
  25. You would not get as many logs milled with an Alaskan as you might hope. For example a 1m wide Beech Log 3m+ long will take the best part of the day to Mill. You'd get started on the second log, maybe even get a good way through it but Id be surprised if you get any more done. Different story with a Bandsaw so if you can find one and can move the logs around you'd get a lot more done in a day.
