  1. Just watching mega shippers on quest and they are loading woodchip for biomass plants in Sweden from the U.K.?
  2. One thing in businessI have learnt never give a day rate, price a job and any extras are priced separately.A friend of mine pruned a tree on a day rate customer agreed then knocked him when he finished an hour early as he worked till five,in the end as it was a rare tree he asked the local tree officer to put a tpo on it and got it.
  3. I wonder if gchq are getting a new education in trees, ever thought about gun cotton bit more stable than nitro.
  4. I’ve spent the last 13 years removing trees and other blockages from rivers and streams for Idb and the Environment Agency,in the last year few years the management of said watercourses has changed from heavily modified to natural regression. This now means we try not to remove the blockage if possible but if we have to we do the minimum to let the water go,this approach encourages the return of natural meanders. Most of the responsibility for small watercourses has now past from the idb and ea to the landowner.
  5. Love this thread, yes ex army thunder flashes if you could buy them would prob be classed as a pyrotechnic not a firework,if you want something with a bit of poke use the bangers of bird scaring ropes be warned though they have a short fuse.
  6. As Steve said if you are worried about the root ball rolling into the stream you can leave a short length of the trunk to act as a prop.
  7. After my defender got nicked of my drive I hooked an alarm gun which uses 12g blanks to the front my new truck which I thought was a great idea, but the amount of times I forgot to unhook it first thing in the morning, not good for the neighbors.
  8. I buy all my belts and bearings from simply bearings an online company with next day delivery and best price,as for the belt just measure the circumference and width you should then be able to match it.
  9. Just bought a rasant buggy with a heavy duty flail, haven’t used it yet,but it does look like a serious bit of kit.
  10. First thing I would do is strip the flail shaft out to make sure it has no kink in it,if that is good I would then think about straightening and replacing the bent bits,I would not recommend this approach if you have limited fabrication and welding skills. As Pete states the alignment of the bearings is crucial.
  11. I use secondhand refrigeration panels for insulation.
  12. Mice love sprayed foam, also the foam seams to corrode the steel it is in contact with, celotex with a vapour gap between the roof ?
  13. If you ever need any help with it in the future bring it over to my workshop near Hingham.
  14. I hire this out with operator it will take 13"x 24" 125hp and its in Norfolk.
  15. Top tip never thought about using a vacuum cleaner to hold the oil in the tank. It does seem that some manufacturers have no foresight for future maintenance.
  16. That can be right no one in there right mind would route a hydraulic pipe that way, if they are we are all doomed to fucking idiots.
  17. Contamination of harnesses guaranteed, harness or strap same thing, when spraying you should be suited and booted in your ppe.
  18. Been wet and warm ,there favourite habitat,it's only the females what bite to get enough protein to lay eggs, the poor males don't have the mouth parts to draw blood.
  19. No pros there on garden sheds and out buildings at the moment.
