  1. You're getting benevolent dictator mixed up with megalomanical tyrants
  2. Ah, but I do know what I'm looking for.. I'm looking for a united Europe at peace with itself. a strong Europe that protects its borders and interests... A Europe capable of projecting military power beyond its borders..
  3. Yea, you're not far off the mark with that observation.. I'm more interested in how a countries run than who runs it. benevolent dictator has always seems like a better idea.. till it comes to a replacement, errm... how to pick a leader with all the right qualities?.. Democracy's OK but it ain't perfect.. look at brexit for evidence of that..
  4. Ha, if only. or better still, tow Australia off our coast with the proviso they have to bring the weather..
  5. Its like an arborist, its much easier for him to work in his local town than to work in the next town down the road.. its just that much easier when you think about it.
  6. People might scoff at the Roman Empire, but remember for those living in it, it meant peace.. not bad when the alternative is every tin pot local leader wanting to subjugate the next tribe down the road.. Roads as well, proper infrastructure, running water baths and trade... a wall across Scotland, never a bad idea Look what happened when it fell apart?.. Europeans back to shitting behind a bush.... I also doubt the EU will break up, The Roman Empire lasted a two thousand years if you include the Eastern Empire, the Catholic Church has lasted two thousand years.. European institutions can run for a very long time before they break up.. Its more likely Britain never leaves the EU than the EU breaks up.. in that regard its still a toss up if we ever get round to leaving in the first place..
  7. A Pyrrhic victory if your asking me... we lost an Empire, America gained an Empire.. who won?..
  8. We should stay in the EU because its good for business.. You know, that little thing that keeps everyone employed.. Though it isn't the main reason why I like the EU, its enough of a reason not to want to leave.. I like the EU myself because being in it inculcates in us a sharred sense of destiny. a brotherhood of nations not unlike the times when Europe was united under the Caesars.... You see Matelot, I'm into that sort of thing, looking at events on the grand scale... thinking big, thinking outside the box.. I wouldn't want history to see us as that spiteful nation on the edge of Europe who took their ball away because they couldn't get their way... Mr Bolam Yes you're right, to the victor goes the spoils.... america won we lost.... get rid of your empire and stand on your own two feet... Churchill was a genius...
  9. Democracy is about listening to the will of the people, and protecting the people from themselves, Brexit a case in point.
  10. Cameron was an idiot.. instead of bleating to the EU about their immigrants coming to Britain, he might of reflected on our own policies over the years. Half the immigrants to Britain are from None EU countries... its a problem brought on us by ourselves.. obviously emulating the economic model of the Americans.. My Bolam Errrm, I might be wrong be didn't we fight the Germans because we were afraid Germany represented a threat to our country and Empire.. which was odd when you consider losing the Empire was the end result of paying to fight the germans in the first place.. Seems Mr Churchill was a bit of tit.. wasn't aware that wars cost lots and lots of money.. Money we spent to save ourselves, not so much the Europeans... So, why should the Europeans pay off our war debts that were spent to save our Empire?... doesn't seem right does it!!..
  11. I wish you wouldn't lump us remainers into the same basket.. I'm as concerned as you in regards why people voted brexit, only my solutions are less painful.. stay in Europe and change from within... Its not like Angela Merkle isn't having problems of her own because she's a complete idiot.. one of the sticking points in her negotiations with her other coalition partners is, they are competing to be as hard as possible on immigration.. Seems the message has eventually got through.. Meanwhile our own Mr May has decided 40 billion is better than twenty, I see fifty being accepted as enough to move on to trade talks. If we're going to be paying 40 to 50 billion and Merkle has come to her senses, then its time to reconsider our options... stay in the EU, send the gunboats to the Med.. problem solved.
  12. Well done Stefan.. I knew you'd go on with your work ethic.. either that or work yourself to death LOL's.. Anyways, lets hope the road is all plane sailing from now on in..
  13. Google news Man has eel removed from his bottom... WTF..
  14. Well I'm positive how to break this to you.... I wasn't talking about a vacuum cleaner.. My carpets are, how do I say this?, none existent, I have old stone flags on the floor.. all the better to save on a hoover... a brush is a tenth the price..
  15. No, I'm not that daft, but obviously some numpties are.... as to money, if I was as interested making money as much as I'm interested in the news, I'd have enough to buy one of those stupid fans... Stubby A back handed compliment of sorts, it'll do I suppose ....
  16. Bagless, what you on about?.. I'm talking about the so called fanless fan...
  17. Isn't that prick Dyson the fella selling the fanless fan?... what a nob-rock, after investing this fan-less fan turns out its got a whirling fan in it after all. just hidden from view... I can't stand people who do that, fool people into thinking they've got something cool, only to find its the same old bollocks as before, only much more expensive than it was previous.. Anyways, I'd just like to congratulate the twenty or so Tory heroes who've told old Theresa where to stick it... perhaps brixit might die yet?...
  18. 800 quid to grind a tree stump, no wonder people are nervous when they talk about getting a tree done.. not to mention its a wonder anyone gets em ground out...
  19. In fairness, any european army would be better off sticking to Germany and France, can you imagine the Belgiums being asked to fight?.more than likely couldn't fight themselves out a paper bag... Meanwhile in the real world, The remainers snub their thumb thumb at Davies take it or leave it vote at the end of brexit... We'll know in a week or two if the remainers mean to throw a spanner in the works and vote in Britain's national interests or the interests of the brexiteering scum in the Tory party..
  20. EdwardC The damage isn't just economic.. Look at the government, just one institution thats already suffering due to brexit. and if we left the EU don't imagine there wont be those attempting to get us back in come hell or high water.. this is gonna destabilize politics for twenty years..or more.
  21. Universities are a good thing and the more of em the better, and studying abroad should be even better, after all the whole purpose of a university is to broaden the mind.. might want to ditch a few subjects mind.. gender studies seems like a complete waste of time.. On the subject of Brexit, letter leaked showing how Doris and Gove are attempting to blackmail May, next up in retaliation is the rebels who have forty names in readiness to break the government.. Damn this next few months is gonna be good viewing if your asking me. Nigel Farage, it will be so easy to get a trade deal with Europe. Yeh, looks that way to..
  22. Good luck Stefan.. send in a few pics of your jobs why don't you.
  23. I think its great to remember our war hero's, especially our first world war war hero's.. Considering how many lost their lives its only right that an especial homage is performed for them, the soldiers that fought, the soldiers that lost their lives.
