  1. We use the stihls at work with the angled head adjustment. One of the lads has the kombi one which i had a loan of for a homer,it felt a bit frajile.
  2. Every new stihl, with the exception of the 150 have been a disaster in my opinion,201-crap! pull cord goes after 5 pulls,261-crap! needle bearing issues.441-crap! Carb calibration is all over the place.Old stihls are great but anything new i wouldnt touch with a shitty stick.
  3. Do you think firefighters have to be injured to justify how difficult the job is. Id say the fact that none were injured is an example of there proffesionalism.
  4. Sorry i was just looking up mawkish. Ok we couldnt disagree more but opinions will differ in interpreting literature so i ll just say i find it alarming that our emergency services are in such a dire way.
  5. Personally i reckon its took a tragedy to highlight the frailties of our blue light services. While boris johnson and his elite chums dress up as firemen the real macoy are facing cuts, increased workload and the reality of working later in your life.In most other industries that scenario could be admissable but i dont fancy my chances of being rescued by a 59 year old fireman whos just climbed 18 flights of steps with little equipment do you?
  6. Theres more too it than that mick, being disparaging is not doing justice to what those firefighters did.
  7. I urge everyone to read this post. Words fail me
  8. I know how you feel. Gutted for you.Hope you and the mrs are ok.
  9. Attack them now.Use woodworm killer,it comes in sprays. I had a major issue with woodworm when we moved into our home 10 years ago.We first noticed little holes in some of our laminate flooring and skirtings,we had no idea what they were at that piont so i was just using wood filler to fill the little holes. Couple of years later we were ripping up the laminate and discovered the carcases of litrally thousands of woodworm beetles,we had an infestation..they were in our skirtings door frames and even several of our joists. All had to be replaced as they were rendered unsafe by a surveyor.Luckily im handy and dome all the work myself. We still had some little pockets of woodworm here and there but we treated the wood with woodworm killer and thankfully we managed to catch them in time before a serious accident happened. I dont mean to scare you unnecessaerily but you may have deeper problems. Problem is its difficult to investigate how bad a problem you have without being distructive to your home.
  10. Brambles will laugh at 2.4mm line.you can buy a product called oregon duo line. Its strim cord with a toughend core,it holds up well to brambles and such.
  11. Pretty shocked at this,i had mine for over 2 years and rated them very highly.Only changed because i needed a boot for climbing.
  12. Ive had a pair of these, the best ankle high chainsaw boots ive had.
  13. As darrin says its usually sold as part of a pulley saver but it has many applications.Great piece of kit.
  14. I was sick of the millionaire lifestyle, driving my lambo's,shaggin models...my banjo string was in tatters... So i decided to get a job that was dangerous, thankless and made you work outdoors in the wettest country in europe. Love it..
  15. Lantra do chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting courses. All the courses,as far as im aware, will include the obligitory ppe, health and safety and risk assesment section. Its not that bad you may even learn something
  16. Reduction cut would be the simplest and probably safety technique for you...only issue is it rains man glitter...
  17. I know the feeling....what were we talkin about again..?
