  1. I wasn't asked for any
  2. My hope is that a lot dont make it past 40 as they've had 20-25 years grafting. I'm hoping I still have 10-15 years effort left in me after my 15 years hard graft controlling an office chair
  3. I don't think there is a quick way to become a well paid climber as you need the experience. I'm leaving the civil service in the next 3 weeks and looking at facing my wage being cut in half to start in this industry. My thinking would be to find somewhere to do the basic tickets such as maintenance, cross cut, small fell, climbing & rescue and the use of a saw in trees (new versions of CS30,31,38 and 39) then get work on the ground to gain experience. If the MOD do a resettlement package and will pay the £4k for the intensive then go for it. If you're forking out then look at somewhere like Roland Heming, they do course with accommodation available and they're very good. As far as I can tell the only way to good wages in Arb is through experience so pretty much start at the bottom and graft.
  4. Also got one this morning. Seems pretty solid, tried it on one chain, looks pretty good now. I'd certainly say it appears to be a proper bargain
  5. You could try googling* for arbortec and SIP chainsaw trousers. *Other search engines are available.
  6. SIP size charts go up to 55" Arbortec offer up to 51-54" I suspect at a 54-56" waist it will be more a case of taking what's out there
  7. They fit the 280 so I don't see why they wouldn't fit the 360
  8. If they conform to the right standard then I can't see it matters who makes them.
  9. I think small claims is the way to go. Especially if you have a contract of any kind, including emails. The dominos example doesn't work, the house didn't order it and can prove phone numbers etc. Theoretically if dominos could have tracked you down you'd have been liable to pay, but they're never going to bother over a few quid. £600 is well worth small claims. Doesn't cost much and I think you can do it all online. The note from small claims will probably be enough to prompt him to pay. Also - I think the cooling off period is only when you approach the customer. If they request it directly then there is no cooling off. Say a window salesman calls and you order a window - you get the cooling off period. If the customer says, not yet, come back in half an hour, iirc they lose the cooling off period
  10. Might see if I can get up just for one day. Quick look round, maybe meet a few more arbtalkers, possibly catch a bargain?
  11. Yes 5-Shires, that was me. I will be off to Treefest this sunday - I got confused as I thought all the carvign and timbersports was at arbshow not treefest. Not sure I'll make it to APF unless I get up there for a day. Currently I'm a training manager in the Civil Service (for the agency everyone on here doesn't like very much). Voluntary severance (aka redundancy) and I finish on September 30th. Retraining to get into tree work. Was nice to meet you, albeit briefly, and others, hope to meet up somewhere soon.
  12. Probably the most widely accepted minimum is 11mm but in the questions for CS38 the answer to minimum sizes is as said before 8mm friction 10mm mainline.
  13. Really like the LJ. Not yet had a try on the ZZ
  14. Yes happy to Would love t get to try the zz
  15. What about the x-torq conversion on the 365? Is it fairly straight forward?
  16. I guess the other difference is as PAYE you get holiday, statutory sick etc. As self employed, he doesn't.
  17. Spud - roughly how much to do the 365 -> 372 'conversion' and fettle?
  18. Does the college have any pre arranged discounts or suppliers? It seems a bit odd that the college expects you to bring all your own kit on day one without any support? Do they even have a kit list? Is it just ppe they expect you to have or saws etc?
  19. Do you want unskilled labour or people who know what they're doing? Are you after ground staff with aerial rescue? Surely what you're after setts what you're willing to pay and therefore sets what you're likely to get?
  20. Specialized! Nice first ride :-)
  21. Information is here Arb Climber Magazine - UPDATE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. If you are a subscriber and have changed emails in the past year or two can you let us know: [email protected] Just type your full name in the subject line and hit 'send' . We can then check and upda
  22. I think I'll be getting some as my stuff doesn't currently get used very often and my new saw hand even been fuelled up yet. Am I right in thinking aspen2 meets the husky warranty requirements or will I need aspen4 and some XP oil?
  23. I take it there's no issues switching a saw over to aspen that's previously been run on forecourt 2 stroke mix?
  24. Awesome looking puppy!
  25. When we walk our Lurcher in the local park we often have a 99 whippy from the ice cream van. He always offers us a little one for the dog - who loves it :-)
