  1. Can't remember any issues. Fit the female half first then screw the male into it
  2. Can anyone tell me what the width is, will it fit through a standard door way as well as gates?
  3. Two transfer covers? I've only done one. Bugger
  4. Just noticed that the oil spout has split at the top of the screw section do it leaks oil. I can only think the can swelled up on a hot day and split it. Shouldn't be a huge issue I'll swap to the non-auto fill spout but I really don't use mine much, it's spent most of its life in the back of the garage
  5. I also missed out as I was cooking tea. It's funny what eBay is suggesting as 'similar items'
  6. DPV is mostly used to decide MOT class. Tax is different
  7. Anything that is normally fitted would have to be included in unladen weight. If you regularly alternate from canopy to tonneau to open I guess you could argue pick one of the three, I doubt it happens much though. Even worse if load bay is kitted out with a slider or racking etc.
  8. Depending on the direction you come from there's a McDonald's or two at services you go past in the last couple of miles
  9. 1) Only just more onerous and that's debatable - iirc the only difference is tyre load rating and speed rating (tested on class 7 but not 4) and the brakes are tested against gross weight (7) not presented or data brake weight (4). Neither of which should pose any issues, I'd expect most vehicles now to pass the brakes on lock out (certainly class 4 and DPV) and I've not seen an unsuitable tyre fitted for a long time. 3) If the tester cannot properly decide what class of vehicle it is then they should decline to test that vehicle until it can be properly established as to what class it is
  10. Design gross weight (DGW) is the maximum weight the vehicle can be when full of fuel, crew, kit, chip etc. As the Hilux is 3210kg then it would be a class 7 if the DPV doesn't apply. All test manuals etc are here https://www.gov.uk/topic/mot/manuals
  11. But the gross weight of a pickup is more than likely 3500kg therefore it should be a class 7 but the DPV means it stays in class 4
  12. Hence the desire to move to a simpler classification system as in Europe M1 and N1 etc. Would he interesting to see if they manage the change. DPV has always been raised as an issue with MOT testers on initial training or refresher courses. No idea what will happen now the training is turning it into more of an online CPD set up
  13. The guidance given to MOT testers is that, when dealing with things like pick ups and the ULW they should always assume that it is under. 110 should have easily fallen into class 4 unless heavily modified.
  14. Or find me if you want.
  15. The bit that stops a lot of crew cabs being DPV is the glazing requirement. And in the arb world probably the fact that a lot are tippers and therefore not fitted with a permanent rigid roof
  16. Yes - I got the same - FM10 last year. It's so easy to use my wife comes out and does the splitting while i ring up, so it must be good and easy to use. I'd also second the recommendation for the stand
  17. I doubt ANPR would be able to cross reference a database that had ULW as between 1950-2100kg and work out if it was a dual purpose or not. ANPR more likely to be used to cross ref tax, mot etc. Arguably if it checks mot database it could look at testable class. Does your pickup have the correct mot? Class 4 would be dual purpose, class 7 would be heavier pickups and vans between 3,001-3500kg I suppose there could be a bigger argument as to invalid mot causing invalid insurance etc.
  18. The reason the leek site weight varies is that it needs to include all of the vehicle parts usually in use, and there are lots of optional bits that can be bolted into a pickup. Unfortunately you can't just go to a weigh bridge and get a kerb weight as you would need to drain the fuel and coolant and remove all small tools like the jack etc. Kerbside includes a tank of fuel etc so that you could drive to a weighbridge and get out to give a kerb weight. Something makes me think there's s guests are where you knock 140kg off the kerbside weight but that seems a lot.
  19. The dual purpose vehicle issue has been rumbling on for ages. They are supposed to be removing it as a sub class as it doesn't really exist as a true vehicle tupe. There are moved to convert our way of thinking of vehicles eg class 1,2,3,4,5&7 (motorbikes, trikes, shall vehicles, private buses and 3.5t vans) over to European m1 n1 etc. That was a couple of years ago so we'll have to see what happens post brexit
  20. I tried to set up a Facebook group but need a friend i can add. Anyone interested PM me and we can get it set up
  21. Page 4 of this thread has an email address for the mailing list. Maybe we could set up an online group
  22. Someone on here set up an email group for those of us doing the distance learning. There was some discussion over question 4, apparently it should read "five roles and importance of organic matter in soil formation"
  23. As far as I'm aware there are no legally required tickets / certs anyway - only for utility / rail stuff etc. Or am I wrong? I understand there's a need to have a rescue climber but is there a legal requirement to have any tickets?
  24. I'm rubbish one handed - need to go and get some practice. Much more accurate with cradle throw between the legs. Not bothered if it's not 'normal practice' I'd rather be accurate than look cool
